Been a while since I posted, but recently I started going through thr HD collection and found another retcon Peace Walker made. At the end of MG2 it's revealed that Petrovich Madnar was working for Zanzibar willingly so he could finish Metal Gear. He did so because The West rejected his ideas. Hmmmm... Strange how that would be the case given CIA actions in MPO and MPW. Bipedal locomotion seemed like all the rage in the 70s according to those games.
Yet another reason why these filler games are not needed. They ruin the existing continuity and make the overall story less effective. Compare the flow of MGS3 to MG1 with MGS3 to MPO to MPW to MG1. Less is by far more in this case. MGS3 had an awesome ending, yet if you go right to MG1 you retain the logical sense that Big Boss was the good guy leading FoxHound but when he turns at the end it still works due to the whole Killing the Boss thing. With the portable titles in the mix it doesn't work, at all actually.

That makes sense (at least I THINK it does). He does attack you in MG2:SS after you find out that he's been willingly coming to the base and that his presence in Zanzibar wasn't due to being coerced by anyone else. One of these days I'll get around to playing Peace Walker - I've played the first hour of it, then accidentally got hooked on playing Skyrim...and that was 170 hrs ago worth of playing time..

Wait, you play Skyrim too??? haha, well I kind of started and I'm exploring the area a little, seeing that it can't be technically 'completed'. So my character is pretty low.

I just can't stand the stuff past MGS3 in general. Completely ruins the original games.

I personally feel that the MGS saga, when you consider MG, MG2, MGS, SoL, SE and GoTE, makes more sense WITHOUT bullsh*t like PO, Rising, PW etc. Especially because Rising replaces stealth/ sneaking with hack-and-slash (how the f...ck do you play Tactical, Espionage, Action in a non-shooter game??!) and PW does NOT freeze the background when you're selecting weapons and equipment. The more Kojima makes, the less I respect him.
