I found a really good MG classics website, it's always up to date and uses the best MSX emulator there is! Check it out, [ftp]http://tidegear.joncaido.com/mg&mg2ss-pc/index.htm[/ftp]

Anthony, have anyone ever told you your a bit... um... stupid? Just curious... Has anyone told you to shut the f...ck up??? oh wait a second alot of people have. I said i doubt i would play it because. 1) I dont have the time to play/finish it. 2) Im not botherd playing the classics. 3) Personally Id rather play it in 3D.(or at least a re-make by hideo kojima) Really i couldnt care what you think about me.

You just said you probably wouldn't play it. And all I can say, is that if you "can't be bothered" playing the classics", then who are you having hacked Anthony's account. I thought you were a fan. Gee... And TheSoldier, what's up with you?

Those 3 points were MY reasons doesnt matter what they said they were MY reasons of not playing the classics. How is not playing the classics, make me not a fan??

Well, since they are part of the real series, it would be like not having played Metal Gear Solid 2, but 1 and 3, and still call yourself a fan.
That's a fact.

Well, since they are part of the real series, it would be like not having played Metal Gear Solid 2, but 1 and 3, and still call yourself a fan. That's a fact. Once again you have proven your stupidity! Not playing MG1+MG2 is completley different from playing MGS1 and MGS3 and not MGS2! Why you might ask??? BECASUE MGS IS A TRILLOGY!! MGS+MGS2+MGS3=TRILLOGY! MG1+MG2= DIFFERENT SERIES!(Yes they are connected on a certian level, BUT Kojima himself stated that MGS+MGS2+MGS3 ARE A TRILLOGY) Im sure half of the members here at MGF havnt finished the classics! And im damn sure that you dont have to play and LIKE MG1 and MG2 just to be a fan! Its like me saying to you just because you dont like Gost Babel your not a metal gear fan!! REGARDLESS of it being a side story its STILL a Metal Gear game! Im sure other members will back me up on this.

Right. Having your period, Anthony? I know full well MGS is a trilogy. But, unlike Ghost Babel, MG and MG2 are 'real' MG games.
But whatever, man, don't play them. You're the one missing out. You probably don't know what you're missing. Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake is a true 2D masterpiece.

You guys make me sad. I thought I would make a nice classic MG thread so we can still remember those good old days, but all you two are doing is fighting... It doesn't matter if you played all the games or just a few, if you find MG special in your hart, body and soul your a true MG fan. If you find yourself a fan then you are a fan, and nobody can stop you.

I've played MG1, but before I got a chance to finish MG2, I switched to a Mac and haven't found a working MSX emulator for it. Granted, I haven't looked that hard, but that's because I've been rather busy of late. Anyways, I'd love to finish the classics at one point, but I have to agree that doing so isn't a requisite for being a fan. Besides, while a 3D remake would be awesome, I'm an old-school gamer at heart, and MG1 and 2 are awesome examples of the good old days, when graphics didn't matter, gameplay barely did (there were 4 buttons TOTAL, that's including start and select), and storylines were the most important aspect. Nowadays, I think some people get way too caught up in graphics.

Well, that's one way to look at it, Kemperius. But personally I'd say in the good old days, gameplay did matter. Actually, I think it was purely the gameplay that was importent back then.
But, MG changed that. I think Metal Gear had the first thought out, political story in video-game. Metal Gear 2 has great gameplay. Like, I'll never forget when I had to use a cigar to see how the wind blows so I could use that - what's it called in English? - glider to get over the gap. Or, when I was told about the Zanzibar Owl and how to use it. OR, when I had to use rations to lure out rats from a hole in the wall so I could crawl in and get the item.
Man, don't get me started on the storyline of MG2. I never expected there to be any twists at all, and then... Hell, good old days indeed.

Yeah, DON'T get started on the storyline, please. After the intensity of the storyline from MG1, I'm dying to see what Kojima had up his sleeve for MG2. I guess you've got me there on the gameplay point, though I'd argue that MG1 was an exceptional case when it came to gameplay (honestly, mose games back then were lacking the kind of stuff that Kojima cooked up for MG1 and 2), though that's just my opinion on the matter.
