In Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, there were two ”missions”, or rather two parts. One was the Tanker Chapter and the other one the Plant Chapter. Even though the Plant Chapter was the main part, the Tanker Chapter was just as important.
In Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, there were also two parts. There was the Virtuous Mission and the Snake Eater Operation. In both cases, the first missions have acted as a sort of introduction to the big thing. In SE for example we discreetly learned of the Cobra Unit in the first part if the game so that we would need no further reduce in the second part of the game, the part of the game in which we would take them on.
I would like to have two chapters in MGS4 too. I was thinking that the first part would be rescuing Naomi (read In The Darkness of Shadow Moses for details). While rescuing her, we would bump into Vamp (though no name is spoken of). That would fit right into the timeline, seeing how Solid Snake had met Vamp prior to the Big Shell take-over.
Now, of course I don’t know jack about the story of MGS4, but whatever it will be about, the first part of the game, rescuing Naomi, could serve as the introduction and we could learn small details about the main players of the other mission.
Just a thought.

Perhaps we would play as Raiden for about 10%, then Snake for about 90%? Haha...seriously. And yes, I wouldn't mind two chapters, but they need to be able to be played individually like MGS2.

Read "In the Darkness of Shadow Moses" Genaside.
Anyways, I need to refresh my memory, when did it say Snake and Vamp had met before?

It gets pretty obvious during a Codec call between Snake and Raiden.

Snake actually seems to have quite a history with Vamp. When Raiden asks about him and Snake says "That blood sucking freak?" he seems to have some sort of anger in him, and then "--That was Vamp" seems abit more fearful. Perhaps Vamp killed or hurt someone close to him, could of injured Meryl at one point or another, or someone else.

I always throught it was just because he smelt like Solidus, but yeah, that could very well be another thing. I wouldn't mind seeing more development of the Vamp character, he was well done, although I prefure Fatman and the MGS1 villians. Hmm...I just got an interesting idea...*Runs off to find a post to post it in...or make his own.*

Thats a great thought TBoL. And if you think about it even MGS1 had 2 parts, 2 different ending parts I mean. I'm sure MGS4 will have 2 parts to.
And yes, Solid Snake had met Vamp even before the Plant Chapter in 2009, I don't really know what happened when they first met though.

Could it be Vamp who saved Naomi?! I just thought about it. Maybe that's how Snake learned of Vamp in the first place. And then there would be a relationship between Naomi and Vamp in MGS4, which would add to the drama. Sure, in "In The Darkness" Nastasha pretty much says it was Snake who saved Naomi, but Nastasha never said it straight out.
QUOTE: "Naomi Hunter was formally taken into custody after the incident’s conclusion. Three weeks later, as she was undergoing debriefing in a certain facility, she escaped. She has not been heard of since. Officials were close-mouthed about the circumstances of the escape, but inquiries into other quarters elicited the fact that someone had broken Naomi out of the base. I knew of only one person who could have breached the base’s tight security and successfully led someone to freedom."
However, she does write that I knew of only..., so that kills my theory big time. Because I doubt Nastasha new of Vamp. BUT, it could be that she only assumed it was Snake, and therefore wrote what she wrote in the way she wrote it.

Hmmm...Snake and Vamp teamed up to save Naomi, but when Vamp started sucking blood of enemies Snake had killed, Snake was disgusted. Things just got worse and Vamp betrayed Snake, revealing his true intentions to kill Naomi when they rescued her. Snake went after Vamp and managed to take him out before he got to Naomi...
Bah. Good theory, TBoL.

Thanks. But whatever their story is, Snake can't remember for sure. It's like "No... It can't be..." You know?
