What do you think is the most closely watched series in all of video gaming? I was thinking about that suddenly as I walked home today. It seems that ever since Metal Gear Solid debuted, every Metal Gear game after that has been as closely covered and watched as the Watergate scandal. MGS2 had its own making-of DVD. This is something relatively new in the games industry - well, within the past several years. Are there any titles you can think of out there that have been watched as closely as the Metal Gear Solid series? We have MGS4 dev-kit development videos, photos of the development staff in field exercises, and a personal blog for Kojima for goodness sakes!

Possibly Final Fantasy, merely because of it's vast popularity, but I'd say MGS is still the most closely watched.

Let's not forget the Zelda's.

But do you think the Zelda series is watched as closely as Metal Gear? Are there behind-the-scenes videos made about them, documentaries, interviews with just about everyone majorly involved in the process?

Umm... yes I think there are. But I think the Metal Gear hype is indeed a little bigger. Although it must be said the hype for MGS3 was like, not very big, while the hype for the upcoming Zelda is kinda huge.
