What is the point of that? Why send an oprotive on a vital mission without so much as a handgun? That makes NO sense at all.
The Tanker mission makes sense, a tranq. Nothing for the Big Shell to save the President.
That makes no sense. In MGS3 Snake had a weapon in both missions.

Considering that Snake and Raiden both entered their missions by scuba diving, perhaps being underwater that long would jam their pistol? Whenever I've seen footage of soldiers marching throug rivers, they always keep their gun above water.

You're right, most weapons get jammed if they're submerged in water. The Socom I think is an exception, and there's a few other Spec Ops weapons that can withstand being submerged.

Remember, Raiden wasn't part of the Navy SEALs when he infiltrated Big Shell. They probably didn't have any high tech guns or equipment that wouldn't jam underwater.
This makes me think back to the first Metal Gear when Snake swam through water to get to Outer Heaven, he did it with cigarretes. I don't think he held them above water all that way.

Perhaps he smuggled them in his stomach again.

I'll bet if he REALLY wanted to, Snake could smuggle a pistol in his stomach and a couple bananna clips. It's just that he doesn't want to.

Well, they all got different "mission advisers". Snake had Otacon, Raiden had Campbell, and Big Boss had Major Zero.
And not every mission is the same, some have a higher risk factor.

I dont know Otty, considering that every MG mission consisted of having nuclear weapons I dont think that the Risk factor is any less then the other in ANY mission.

Well, all MG games are what shadowf0x was talking about, but lets not forget, they are on huge moving tanks that can fire many other weapons. Incedentially, Arsenal Gear had many more than one Rays onboard. I would think the risk factor is up on that mission, especcially when your mission supervisor is an A.I. that's been screwing around with you for the whole mission.

Again, you guys think too much. It's all part of the gameplay. Hideo wanted to make you look for your own damn guns, which made the game more kickass.
