So once we get Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns Of The Patriots and most certainly it's respective expansion a year later (Metal Gear Solid 4 Subsistena-blah-blah-ance ;D ) do you think you will stick with the series?
I would say we're looking at around late 2008 or early 2009 by the time we are done with the Kojima "Gears". I really don't see myself following the series past that. Side story games do not interest me in the least, nor does the prospect of raping the main timeline. Not to mention that Kojima, Shinkawa, and Solid Snake are done after MGS4. To me, those 3 elements are what made the series worth while. I personally see MGS4 as my last run with the series. How about you?
On a side note, I also see MGF stoping the updates after the final touches of MGS4. I won't take the site down, but I really doubt I will continue covering the "Bastard" Metal Gear titles that are sure to spring up after Kojim leaves.

I say just move on. After Kojima stops, just drop the series.

I've pretty much moved on already. I mean, I dont care about MG at all, all Im waiting for is MGS4 to come out and "end" the series which Hideo promised to do with MGS2.

Once MGS4 passes, I'll probably just try to make that section and cover the rest of the series the best I can. I probably will never get around to covering the side-stories (though I would like to maybe do Ghost Babel). I've always intended my site to be the ultimate Metal Gear timecapsule so that anyone who came upon my site who wanted to know as much as they could about the game could find out all about how to play, secrets, etc. about each game.

I guess I'll stick around...
IF, and that's a big IF, the games are not gonna be rapes of the main story line and they are stealth/action games... With a great story.
I just hope the let Solid Snake and the Solid series rest. I woulnd't mind for a few adventures with Raiden or perhaps 3D remakes of the originals. Now that would be awesome!

A 3D version of MG1 and 2 would be great, but without Kojima you'll just get Twin Snakes. Nicer graphics do not a game make, MGS vs Twin Snakes case proved that.

I'll probably limit any Metal Gear games after MGS4 to a rental first to see if I like them, if not I'll just stick with the originals.

Yeah, you're right, that's the downside with remakes. You need the original director, or it'll go wrong. BTW: I have to add I finally have TTS now, and it's not that bad at all.

Have you played all the way through? If you have, pop in the original and play it through. You have to have a bad taste in your mouth if you play them back to back, I know I did.

When I play Twin Snakes I have more fun when I play without the Tranquiliser gun and no radar. I also skip most of the movies I hate. The thing I hate the most is they obviously didn't playtest it much to find the bugs, feels very rushed which is what will probably happen to future Metal gear Games without Kojima.

Also the detail lacks. Only a few lights can actually be shot out. Most things are not interactive. This game came out 3 years after MGS2, and is considerably BELOW it in terms of technical achievements.
I guess my thing on Twin Snakes is that it had everything going for it, and the game just droped the ball.
* Directs Story of MGS, one of the best plots in gaming history. * Stronger technology than the PS2. * 3 years after the gameplay of MGS2.
It seems like the makings of a perfect game. And alas, it was not. Compare it to Snake Eater, which came out only 8 months later.
Sure, Twin Snakes looked better than the original MGS, but c'mon! 6 years difference!
