I've been playing around with CQC in MGS3 and something is bugging me.
What do you do to block a slashing attack from a guard? I just can't seem to do it. Everything else CQC I got down perfectly, but that slash attack always gets me. What's the control for the block of it and what exactly does Snake do?
Thanks.

Hell, I'm not sure I've ever tried it. Wouldn't it be like counter-CQC'ing The Boss?

Hmmm.... that one you just tap the circle button... but it's to counter her grapple. In which case there is more time to actually counter. A knife slash is really fast! I was just wondering if you hold down a button or something.

I don't know actually. I think I've managed a couple of times, but not on purpose. ;D

Yeah I've had that same problem too. I can never seem to counter it.

I don’t think it’s doable since there is no pause in the guard’s motion. Think about it. If you ran at a guard when he’s back was turned, right before you get to him he hears you and turns around. Even then there is about a second pause in him before the alert. That’s pleanty of time to reach him and grab him. On the other hand dodging a knife slash is not possible since it happens so fast.
I have it inluded on the my MGS3 page, but I have no idea how to do it! I remember someone told me to add that into the game description. So I did. Now I'm trying to figure out if it is indeed a legit move.

LOL!
We need to figure out how to do that. I should note that neither the manual nor the game guide show it as a possible move. I may have to delete it.

Yeah... But what if youpress circle exactly as the AI of the enemy commences its attack?
But anyways, you might want to delete it.

AG is gonna fight me on this to, Ive done it it takes perfect timing very hard though because that is the problem the guards are way to fast at the hand with the knife. Once they drop the knife they just run away and try to blast pretty much.

So what are the controls then? Do you just hold the O button? What does Snake do, what motions?

Yes you press the O button, he'll grab them in that choking motion thing if you hold it if you dont he'll just knock the knife out the guard will yelp a little and then run away if you didnt fully grab him. But it is hard I mean like ive done it like 4 or 5 times the entire time ive played Snake Eater, again those guards are waaay to fast at the hand man seriously. but yes my children it is possible.

Tried it in EVERY way possible and it does NOT work. I grabed the guard at just about every possible moment as he pulled the knife and it was just a regular CQC grab.

He grabs them in that choking motion 99 percent of the time. Ive done it at times when he grabs there arm and he twists it in a strange way and they just drop what they are doing and run away.

The reason why I'm questioning it is because the knife seems to be a set weapon. It's like their handgun, it never goes away.
