Tragic that he's in such a critical condition, but expected. He's probably one of the oldest men on earth. So, whose name do you think will be drawn out of the hat for the next pope? The Pope was at an average age when he died, 84 - my grandmother is 86, she isn't one of the oldest women on the planet. What I'm thinking is that you had an idea by this Pope's mumbling and frail figure as that he was over 98? Your second post almost confirmed that. |

The pope was an incredible man who lived an incredible life. He is not a god, and I have no idea why that idea was presented in this thread. I am Catholic, and we dont believe that he is a god. The pope is the leader of the Church, a servant of God, and the Bible isn't a "fax from heaven" as someone in this thread put it. The pope traveled the world, met with many leaders, and bridged out to other religions and countries. He was an incredible political figure who helped to bring about the fall of communism in Russia. The fact that nearly every world leader and that members of other relgious faiths have paid their respects to the man show how much of an impact he had on the world. He will be missed on this earth, but in my mind thats OK because he is in a better place.
