Well it seems that The Soup is not the only MG fansite that's getting a facelift. The Unofficial MGS site is back with a HUGE load of updates, and some fancy game sections. I think TUS represents exactly what MGN always wanted to be but never got it off the ground.
In any case, major props on that update. There's not doubt that the TUS is the flagship of the Metal Gear fansite community.
I must admit, times like that make me want to do something with the old MGF. But I really don't know what.
I have spare time now so if you guys got any ideas on what MGF should change (be reasonable) let me know. Maybe it's time I dove back into the site for while and updated.
On a side note I'm starting to think that MGF is a lot like Snake in MGS4, old and outdated, but still looks kinda cool. Yet compared to the new higher techs like Raiden (TUS) the evidence of the outdating is clear.

Yeah. You should totally make your front page and every other page have a big-ass button that contains a link to The Dumpster. One that takes up the whole screen and blocks anything MGF-related from being seen.

Yeah, but what do I do? Put a gun in MGF's mouth?  Sadly the comparisson is VERY true. MGF, Confidential, MGN, MG Edge, Snake Hole... our war is over. War has changed. Some of the old heavy hitters still linger but most have faded away. Sites like TUS tepresent the new generation. One of similar template designs and multiple webmasters. The old school of going solo and making the site unique from scratch are over. Generic templates and Flash have taken over. War has changed. |

Are you kidding AG? MGF has so many things TUS doesn't, you were one of the first. You are like the father of all Metal Gear fansites. A lot of people look up to this site, they got respect. Almost every admin of their own fansite started out as a forum member here, isn't that funny to notice.
So don't stick a gun in MGF's mouth, instead of that you should be proud at what you've created. ;D

;D Ego rising...  Now waiting for Liquduz to slap me back down to earth.  You know, I have been thinking about learning Flash. Nothing major, but a few cool banners or buttons here and there... Just to spruce up the old place. More similarities MGS4, I like this: TUS - Outer Heaven Company controlling everything. MGF - sOLiD Snake. Otty's site - Otacon. Jackyl's site - Campbell Snake Soup - Raiden (In MGS4 that's a compliment) LOL! ;D |

I'd love to spend some hours on my site, it needs it. I need to redo the MGS2 section to make it match the others in layout. I do have plans to update the downloads section with something I know the other sites don't have - a sound effects library! Search the internet all over and you'll never find the alert sound that you get in the games when a soldier spots you. I've got that and a bunch of other sounds I'll throw into some zip files and put up sometime in late August most likely.

Well, I started on some stuff already. The header images for each of the game sections are remade! I'll try to work on everything in the next couple of weeks. Nothing will be uploaded until I get EVERYTHING ready. MGF will have some surpises of it's own!  |

See my first thing is to work on the game pages. I'm gonna give the gameplay plates a facelift, but the info will stay the same. I'll probably end up re-writing the story plates and give a brief story synopsis instead of just intros (not happy about that, but I think more people will benefit from it).
As for the game section header images, I got them made already. Though I don't have flash like TUS, once their flash is over the main game image is actually rather weak. And I will bring back the old sounds for each game section. I'll have to make the short like TUS did to fit them in again, but I'm sure I can delete some junk for that.
Then the intro image will be remade, and I already got some good ideas on that. Finally, I will add all the missing content like Acid 2, Portable Ops, some more stuff in the Supplement Gear and Classified Index.
It'll be a busy couple of weeks but that will catch MGF back up to speed. I quit my second job so now I have nights and weekends off. That'll give me the time I need to get things back on track.

You can do a Patriots Themed thing I guess. Really, simple is better. Look at Maddox. He has the most simple website configuration in the world: His Che parody banner, and the link to the newest rant. And his website grew to a popular web destination, and now he has a book out.
