One big issue: Do NOT get it if you want to use the HDD that comes with FFXI or (Gob forbid) actually play FFXI. The HDD does not work with the slim PS2.

It is a great system.
They upgraded the DVD driver, so there are a lot more features, it load very fast, I love the pop open disc drive, IT'S SOO SMALL!, built in ethernet modem, yeah No HDD but oh well.

Yeah the DVD Drive speed is wayyy faster then the original PS2's.
Great for games like GTA:SA because it streams data faster
For example I always get places before the PS2 can load the proper textures for it in GTA:SA i dunno if its happened to anyone esle but it happens to me with this new SLIM PS2 that wont be an issue.
Keep in mind that they are so much other benifits.

I heard actually that there are a few problems with the new PS2, that was that the new PS2 didnt have a fan on the inside so it heats up very quickly, also yeah the HDD but actually thats just about it.
