Contra. Say the word to anyone who was born during the 80's and they'll know what you're talking about. Other generations might say, "yeah, I remember Ollie North and that damn Reagan affair!" and you'll likely have no clue what that has to do with blowing away aliens while wearing headbands. But you know it means something else. Spread guns and bandanas. Your dad knows. He helped you beat the vile Red Falcon because your dexterous little sausages couldn't control your erratic jumping man well enough for him to not fall into bottomless pits all the time. Your sister knows Contra. She always wanted to watch the episodes of My Little Pony on VHS that someone recorded from the original broadcast complete with clipped Lite Brite commercials. Even your mom knows Contra. She's got the name "Bill Rizer" tattooed under the overhang of her left breast for God's sake. And If you need an introduction to Bill Rizer, this is what he looks like, as seen from the point of view of an alien aggressor:  Got it? Good. Let's discuss all things Contra here, then. |

I'm sure EVERYONE knows the code for the extra 30 lives, even though maybe no one has ever played the game.

I heard about it, but never really seen it nor knew any details about it. When I saw this topic I checked it out on Wiki and at the very first glace at the early NES title:  Holy crap, it's Snake's Revenge! A run-and-gun sidescroller from Konami! Now I get why the made Snake's Revenge the way it was.  |

Yeah, Snake's Revenge probably was modeled after Contra, but SR gameplay isn't as fast paced, let alone as fun as Contra.
