So Blizzard announced Diablo III a couple of months ago. This will be the sequel to their runaway hit Diablo II, which was released 8 years ago. www.blizzard.com/diablo3/Anyone else that has watched the gameplay demonstration think that Diablo III doesn't look as good as they expected?

For the hype it had? Not even joking.
Then again, hyped games fail to meet the expectation 90% of the time. Halo 3, Doom 3, Mario Sunshine...
It seems to me games that are the most criticized before their launch (Metroid Prime is an excelent example) fair better than the hyped ones (Too Human, anybody?)
Gameplay and graphics seem to be nice, fluid, and the game looks fun, overall. Still, I hardly qualify as "fan" of Diablo II (played it some times, liked it, but never really "had" it on my PC), so I dunno.

Well, Blizzard is taking away pretty much everything that made Diablo II as fun as it is. The graphics are fine, but what kinda bugs me is the more vibrant dungeons and outside environments. Diablo I and II had more, dark, scary looking places that made playing the game more intense. In III it looks way more lit and non scary. But that change might not be so bad.
What bugs me is the cut of difficulty. Hotbar abilities where the potion hotbar used to be? Now red orbs drop off of the enemies that heal you? The combat in Diablo 1 & 2 was fun partly because of the difficulty included. Only 1 class attack and 1 regular attack allowed, and you had to use up potions for healing yourself. This looks incredibly easier, and, for me, that diminishes the fun. <_<
And you're right, it was overhyped. Everyone who has played through the first two games in the last 10-12 years said "OMG DIABLO 3 LOL".
