Problem is, there isn't any real alternative. True communism doesn't exist because the so-called "interests of the whole group over the individual" are really the interests of the a-hole in charge of the government.
I think the problem isn't capitalism; it's the rich people who aren't considerate about the poor. Not only that; most poor people either lack proper education to even have success opportunites or are simply too lazy to carry out a real job.
That's an ongoing problem here where I live. There are numerous economically-affected people, but I bet if you gave them a legitimate opportunity at success (meaning no drug business or the like, but doing things the good way, the HARD way), they would simply try and forget about you.
It's definitely not a black and white problem; it's a lot more complex.

Very true. I lived in both Soviet Russia and US. It really helped me to have a good perspective in life.
Again, I agree. But the issue here is one kinda causes the other. Why should the rich care about the lazy poor? It's a vicious cycle and it's hard to draw the line.
LOL, certainly. It's 2011 and I'm sick to my stomach when I hear the race card being played in either direction. So sick of it!
