im thinking the "no place to hide" idea is just making it so you have to utilize your stealth tactics a whole lot more.

Or maybe you get stealth camo right from the beginning and it should be "You Need No Place To Hide".
Nah, j/k. I think it will be more action based, and the camera system will be changed. And we won't see nothing on E3. Dude, around that time they are still setting out major plots in the game, deciding what the setting will be, what characters the game will feature and only the very basic program will be written. We won't see anything.

There will not be any E3 previews folks. I'm sure this game will follow the same pattern that the others did:
May 1997 - E3 first preview of MGS Fall 1998 - MGS release May 2000 - E3 first preview of MGS2 Fall 2001 - MGS2 release May 2003 - E3 first preview of MGS3 Fall 2004 - MGS3 release May 2006 - E3 first preview of MGS4 Fall 2007 - MGS4 release
The only thing I see could be different is the month of the release. The game should be released in July of 2007, marking the 20th anniversarry of the series.

Maybe we won't see any preview till 2006, we might see some commercial ads in game magazines before that. And your right, it will be the 20th anniversarry in 2007! I'm sure Mr. Kojima will be making a party and a 20th anniversarry collectable. ;D

It will be interesting to see what they will do for the 20th aniversary. We're bound to get MG1 and 2.

I hope so! Or they put MG1 and MG2 in the new MG4! ;D
*POST UPDATE*
Konami of Europe has to say this about MG4:
The confirmation of a fourth installment in the best-selling stealth operative series is a major announcement during the current launch promotion of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. For the as-yet unnamed title, which is currently in the planning stages, Kojima will act as Head of Development, serving as the Executive Producer and is responsible for the game plan. Leading the whole development, he has assigned Yoji Shinkawa as the Character Designer and Kenichiro Imaizumi as Producer.
It seems Yoji Shinkawa will be back again! ;D

Of course. Yoji Shinkawa created all the characters we know and love.

I'm glad Shinkawa is back. The art in Acid just did not look right for a Metal Gear series. So at least that won't be screwed up. Let's recap: Story creation: Kojima Game plan: Kojima Art: Shinkawa Director: So far so good. I just wonder who will direct it. But both Kojima and Shinkawa are on board so the game does have a good chance of working out.

Trust me AG Mr Kojima will never let a bad directer handle a story he is been working on for ages. No matter what he will let his story completed in a the way he wanted it.

Honestly, so far, I cannot care less about this game. I'm glad Kojima is writing the story, but still... Just the fact the game was announced before MGS3 was out makes me wonder of the quality of this game.

The game was announced before MGS3? How do you figure that? The official release of MGS3 was in November. The secondary, Japanese release, was in December. You can hardly count the European market seeing how MGS3 has been officially out for 4 months. It's not as if they already started the making process. But it's easy to tell that "yes, we want to make another one" based on the US and Japanese markets.
How dare they announce plans for MGS4 BEFORE the great TBOL placed his stamp of approval on MGS3. We can't have that, now can we.

Metal Gear Solid 2 wasn't announced in 98, and Metal Gear Solid 3 was not announced in 01. All I'm saying is that Konami starts to sound like Ubisoft. Why do you add all those wierd comments all the time? You're hurting my integrity.

MGS2 and MGS3 did not need to be announced. The endings of the previous titles made it clear that a sequal will follow. MGS3 did not have such an ending. Hence there was no certainty that another game will follow. And 4 months is more than enough time to decide if you want to make another title.
I don't see why you think it's going fast. They have a brand new system (PS3) to work on. Not to mention the challenge of beating MGS3. The earlier they start, the less rushed the game will be.

The earlier they start, the less rushed the game will be. Quite the contrary actually. Now that they have announced the game, they have put themselves on an impossible deadline. They will now have to statisfy the fans because everbody expects this new Metal Gear in the next two years. They can't really make it much later, because by then everybody will have lost interest and the fans will begin to start losing that too. So in a way, this game will be more rushed then the others. If they had just started development and waited for next year's E3 with the announcement, people would not expect the game sooner then, what would it be, 2007? Now with the announcement even before initial development started they almost have to release the game in 2006, maybe the beginning of 2007. They now have a much tighter scedule.
