You're wrong. The game will be out in 2007 and the previews will go they same route they did with the first 3 MGS titles. You talk about people loosing interest, all it takes is one trailer and the interest is back up. They can release it and preview it anytime they want.

Well put, Foxid. You're right. Arsenal, though, I don't agree with you on this one. See, now when Kojima isn't in the center of it all, one trailer might not be enough.
Hell, who knows how the MGS4 trailers will be, now when Kojima might not be editing them. Kojima did not only edit them nicely as if they were movie trailers, but he put alot of thought into what to put in them.

Quite the contrary actually. Now that they have announced the game, they have put themselves on an impossible deadline. They will now have to statisfy the fans because everbody expects this new Metal Gear in the next two years. They can't really make it much later, because by then everybody will have lost interest and the fans will begin to start losing that too. So in a way, this game will be more rushed then the others. If they had just started development and waited for next year's E3 with the announcement, people would not expect the game sooner then, what would it be, 2007? Now with the announcement even before initial development started they almost have to release the game in 2006, maybe the beginning of 2007. They now have a much tighter scedule. Yeah, right. That makes sense. Except for the part where it makes NO SENSE. Max Payne two was announced right after Max Payne came out. It was a lot longer than 2 years till it came out. You know what happened. People wanted the game more and more and it got rave reviews when it finally came out. Anticipation makes the heart grow fonder. You'd do well to remember that.

Yeah, that's true, but to announce a game of this magnitude even before initial development is wrong, I think.

Yeah, that's true, but to announce a game of this magnitude even before initial development is wrong, I think. I think so too. Kojima was always so tough on the security and stuff. Maybe this is another side-effect of him not being as much involved in the project as before.

Wait what was that rule with metal gear games where it will be 1 year with no news then the next year it will show at e3 and then it will come the year after that. Right? so then i cant wait for the E3 mg4 will be shown

There really wasn't any rule. It's just a formula we developed based on past history. There probably won't be any new Metal Gear things to behold at this year's E3.

There's also that annoying rumor about Nintendo's "secret stealth project". You know, that thing about "Metal Gear 1 story with MGS3 gameplay" which has been circulating for some time already.
Of course, I doubt this is related with "No place to hide!" stuff, but still lefts you wondering... I mean, the "Big N" project sounds really bizarre (if you ask me) but, since aparently they're back with Silicon Knights (if I heard right), and the "Revolution" will be shown at this E3 (again, if I heard right), odds are, they're seeking a game to atract new gamers AND hard core gamers at the same time.
But, IF ALL OF THIS IS TRUE, I still say is a near-suicide mission, since their mesing with the game that started it all, and I REALLY doubt will be able to forgive them if they use Matrix-esque scenes again.

Last time they remade a game, it recieved less than stellar ctritique. I doubt Kojima would give them the rights to it. There have always been rumors floating around about a Metal Gear remake, but since Kojima would never want someone else screwing with his baby, I dooubt these are true.

Yeah, I mean, they're only RUMORS in the end, and we all want to think they're not true. But after REbirth (Resident Evil remake) was SO DAMN succesful (and rightfully so, if I may add), Nintendo is betting to remakes.
Konami... mmmh... at the end, it just wants money (NOT HIDEO, just Konami. Don't get me wrong), and, if I remember right, Konami own the rights for Metal Gear (therefore, we have Snake Revenge AND Snake on "Fighters Mega Mix TV" (or something like that... it's that game were Snake fights Simon Belmont and so)), so if Nintendo comes with a pile of money and says "This for the rights of Metal Gear 1", you think Konami would think twice???
After all, let's be serious: before the cell phone port, Konami really wasn't getting any money from Metal Gear 1 nor Metal Gear: Solid Snake. MSX2 is pretty much dead too. So, if there's an oportunity to make money, why the heck wouldn't they??? Konami would surelly disagree with it, as we all would, but, since Big Boss is so damn famous right now, thanks to MGS3: SE... hell, I mean, do the math.
I just hope is not true. And if it is... hell, the only thing I ask for is to have descent cute scenes.
(P.S: They know their mistakes. They'll try to fix them (voices, scenens, lack of challenge...), but they can fail)

What ever it takes to get a remade of MG1 and 2 I'm with, as long as Kojima san approves it. I have said it many times that in my opinion they will get remaded sooner or later.

Keep in mind, it takes two to tango. Metal Gear is Hideo Kojima's intellectual property. If Konami gives away the rights to Metal Gear, they will need the approval of Hideo Kojima, or else they will face major lawsuits. Just because they are the publisher doesn't mean they have supreme power over the series.
Plus, if they were doing a project so MAJOR and BEGGED FOR by the gaming community, do you honestly think they wouldn't announce it? "Okay, gentlemen. We have this game in development that will make us lots and lots of money and will cause a distinct rise in our stock prices if announced. Be sure not to tell anybody!"
