i think the story is going to be simpler than we think. The only complicated aspect will be the fact that every character will probably have a lot to talk about considering the amount of time that has gone by since the end of mgs2. Maybe raiden will have some facial hair.

I DO!!! I think after TGS everyone will be spittin' story theories like crazy....let's hope we don't go down the "time machine" route or the "the patriots are vampires" route. Remember those days? ....l....o.....l....

I won't watch any trailers. For the first time in my MGS history, I will know nada - as in nothing - about the story of MGS4 untill I actually sit down and play it. That would be a nice experience....

mgs4 story
with the ending of MGS2, the world is engulfed in conflict. war has spread, with the use of metal gear as a WMD. some country is nuked with the help of metal gear (ray or rex or both), thus turning asia to retaliate against the americans. the american pres. knows that this was the work of the patriots but their efforts to retaliate.
in the midst of this battle, the american pres., despite the irony, calls upon the only man he knows that can prove that the country was innocent, solid snake. either (a) someone is taken hostage or (b) snake wants to prove his innocence to the country or (c) he wants to take down the patriots as badly as the pres. does, decides to go along with their plan and he plans to infiltrate a war-ridden country where a majority of the patriot leaders are beleived to be located in.
the theme 'no place to hide' discusses that in war time, the battlefield is vast and there is no place to hide. snake must overcome not only guards, but battles taking place in the field. he, raiden, otacon and meryl must work together to prove this.

That's a nice possibility! Snake, Meryl, Otacon and Raiden will definitely have to do something with the Patriots.

That would be a nice experience.... I've had that. It is alot better than when playing Snake Eater. I WAS Raiden, as it was intended. I had no idea what the crap was going on. Same with when I played MGS, avoiding guards...it was crazy. |

Or here's a though, take a lesson from the MGS2 and MGS3 theories and wars, and just wait.
What's the damn point of shooting in the dark here? I doubt that even Kojima got the whole story written and finalized at this point. (And I don't want to hear any crap about it already being written 7 years ago at the MGS1 days)
Sure, you can guess and argue, but what the hell is the point? All it will do is cause problems, just like before.

it's just for the fun of things, i guess. about how our stupid theories will be perceived in the final measure. the only problems it will cause is others flaming others or calling others stupid for no apparent reason. the childish behavior is the main source of the problems, not the speculation.
on a different note, i actually think kojima's had the story written since mgs2 but hasn't touched it since their beginning production on mgs3.

The script is definately prone to revision. WE the fans made metal gear what it is today. much like star wars fans prevented jar jar binks from ever having a role again.

acording to psm and the info they collected from kojima himself is that alot of the old people are going to be in including meryl vamp naomi raiden and a baby dont know whos and even Big Boss himself who actually looks kinda gangly which isnt really impossible since in mgs1 campbell did kinda hesitates about handing over big bosses remains so it kinda makes you think. but they also say that it could be solidus witch dont make sence since big boss and solidus are both missing differant eyes and this picture it shows his right eye is missing which would be big boss.
