okay, hi, im new here, and also new to the game series, i wont bore you with detail but i had the opertunity to buy a game for me 'cube (the only system i own) instead of one, i decided to get two used, i got resident evil 1 and ended up buying MGS: TTS cuz it was only 20$ good price, and it was brand new
so i took it home and started playing, and beat it in 3 days, i just couldnt stop playing, i was sucked right into the story line, what an amazing game, so natrually i go on the net and wanna look up some info on the series... i found boards like IGN full of people who bash the title, sites where they have sections dedicated to why this was a bad game
... i dont get it... am i the only one who thought it was good?? seriously its one of the best games ive played
i noticed many people complained alot about the "matrix" style moves snake uses, i thought they were cool, not playing anything else in the series, i thought thats what snake ... you know... did
so is the only reason people dislike the game is cuz of snakes 'matrix like ability' to hop off rockets, do amazing back flips and dodge chuncks of cement?? is the reason many fans didnt like it is cuz the way they changed snake??
well anyway, im really into the whole series now, and saving up some money to buy a used PS2 and pick up MGS2 and 3, i cant wait

Did you read the main MGF site? In the MGS section, I've outlined the problems with Twin Snakes. See, you never played the original, that's a major problem. Twin Snakes is by no means a replacement for the original MGS. Is it a good game? Yes. And for someone who is new to the series it would seem like a masterpiece. But trust me, the original MGS is better.
Naturally the graphics are much worse and the gameplay is far more simple. But hey, that's 1998 PSone technology. But you should play it anyways. In the mean time, check out the MGS section on this site and you'll get a MGS/Twin Snakes comparison.
Oh, and welcome aboard!

welcome to the forums. I personally didnt mind TTS but i found the game a bit dodgey like alot of glitches and FPS drop were the main problems. The main reason people didnt like it was because it didnt make a good replacement for the classic game.

Welcome, I for one never disliked TTS. Even though I've played the original and the rest of MGS series, I still respect the game and whenever I play the series I start from the orginal then TTS and so forth. The only thing I didn't like about it was that some of the cutscenes made Snake look like a superhero.

I don't dislike TTS. But on the other hand, I don't dislike Ghost Babel either. When I say something about TTS or Ghost Babel, I'm comparing it to other games. In TTS's case I compare it to the original, and as AG is saying, it is far better than TTS.
In fact, the only real "problem" I have with TTS, is when people - even fans - started to refer to the original as TTS. Not only does that confuse me as I don't know right away which game they're talking about, but Metal Gear Solid never was "The Twin Snakes". No subtitle I mean.
But it's great game. I'd take it rather than any Splinter Cell anyday.

What I'm afraid of is that people won't even play Metal Gear Solid anymore, now all those kids buy The Twin Snakes. The Twin Snakes is just not like the old MGS and it will never have the MGS spirit. Now you know why we hate it. ;D

Id take pokemon over splinter cell! ;D ;D I'd take a sigmoidoscopy performed by an unliscenced mental patient on PCP with no hands, and a wooden eye he named "Big-Eared Vinnie" over Splinter Cell. Oh, and welcome to MGF, Leon.

This thread is turning into a "Why hate-discussion".... I don't hate Splinter Cell. I'm sure it's a great game. I however have not played any of game of that series. The world is big enough for both SC and MGS, but my heart only has room for the latter. That was beautifully put, Leiner, very well put. ;D

...so why does everyone hate Splinter Cell all of a sudden? It's not all of a sudden for me. I've hated it for a long time.

This thread is turning into a "Why hate-discussion".... wasnt it was a why hate discussion from the begging? _________________________________________ thnx for the welcome everyone and... was TTS ever really supposed to take the place of the original... well, it was a remake... but if it was, im preety sure they wouldnt of shoved it off to silicon knights, kojima himself probably woulda looked over the whole thing, and they probably woulda added more stuff and i doubt more people will/would play it more than the original, it is only a nintendo system, so that makes to an even smaller audience

No, it was only supposed to be a remake. Not a replacement.

Nothing can replace MGS, no matter how good the remake is...
