The Patriots. Big Boss knew about them, and chances are, he wanted to use Metal Gear to stop them at one point or another. Solid Snake stood in the way of Big Boss and took him down, then finished the job in MG:SS by killing his own father. In MGS, Liquid also knew about the patriots, and wanted to take them down by fullfilling the same dream as his father. Metal Gear. He was killed (A few times) by Solid Snake, his twin brother. Then, both Solid Snake and Raiden went up against the only snake that loved his father (From what I gathered) anad he tried to fullfill outer heaven, too. If somehow things didn't go according to plan, and Solidus wasn't stopped, it would spell the end of the patriots, the group controling America. But Raiden, with the help of Solid Snake, defeated Solidus and so, once again, The Patriots managed to survive, it was all part of their plan...
However, really, they arn't THE bad guys, as all they are trying to do is stop Metal Gear, which could spell destruction, so, they are kinda doing the right thing. However, in doing so, they are helping the true enemies. I see Snake going down the same path as Big Boss eventually and trying to use Metal Gear, but, is he too pure for that? I dunno. I just felt like making this post...they arn't really the bad guys but...still...

I hope because Solid Snake is so unique that he will try to break the curse bestowed upon him and break the chains which bound his father by exposing and possibly taking down the organization known as the Patriots. Hopefully Snake will see the mistake his father and he himself made and will choose not to follow the path to its end. I think he will not use Metal Gear for the simple reason that Metal Gear is a stigma and he'll see that nothing good can come from it. He'll have to find another way.

Snake and Otacon have there own thing going, there on there own, they hate the Patriots and Metal Gear, and will do everything in there power to see them stopped, look out for that transmitter Snake tagged Ocelot's Ray in MGS4

True, hopefully Snake is the smart one and sees that Metal Gear can't be used for anything good. Solidus had only seen The Shagohod, I don't think Liquid had ever gone up against a Metal Gear, neither had Solidus, but Snake has fought alot of them so yeah...
But either way, they are doing as the patriots had planned. The whole Tanker incident was planned...I'm not too sure about their arrival on Big Shell though...perhaps that is the start of Otacon and Snake breaking free of The Patriot's control, and Raiden becoming the new puppet...although, if he goes off to have a family, will the Patriots get a new lap dog?

Ok, SS and Raiden are not the true villians of the series. They other Snakes (Liquid and Solidus) along with Big Boss, didnt want to just kill the patriots, they wanted to create chaos and mayhem throughout the world so that warriors (soldiers) such as themselves will be valued once again as they were in the World Wars instead of being thrown aside and forgotten about. Solidus though wanted to control the world, he wanted to take out the Patriots so he could take their place and rule solely. Solid Snake and Raiden want to take out the Patriots without putting the innocent people of the world in harms way. So...
Liquid and Big Boss --> Destroy Patriots along with world. (Kill Bad Guy and Kill Hostage)
Solidus --> Destroy Patriots, Blow up world and Take The Patriots place as Dictator of the world. (Become Bad Guy and Kill Hostage)
Solid and Raiden --> Destroy Patriots and Keep World Peace. (Kill Bad Guy Save Hostage)
FYOI - Badguy = Patriots
Hostage = World

Like TBOL, Solidus hated the idea of the world being controlled by anyone, that is why he was so against The Patriots, who wanted the world to be controlled, so they sent in Snake and later Raiden to stop the person who wanted liberty! Oh yeah, Snake and Raiden are real heroes  . To an extent, they did save the world, but poor dependent America still had to suffer...The Patriots are way too powerful...and evil...roar. |
