i hope the overall mood of the game is darker this time around. There should still be some comedic elements, but not as many as MGS3. Storyline should still be twisted, characters should still be wierd, but the feel of the game could benefit from something a little more serious, almost eerie like MGS1. MGS3 had the envronment going for it but i never really felt "in danger". I felt vulnerable but not to the point that i NEEDED to be stealthy. The idea that something can hit you from any direction by anything needs to be brought back. Also, more "tense" moments would be nice. The kind that snake faced when the gaurds see him on the way to the holds like in MGS2 or the part where Snake runs up those seemingly endless flights of stairs in MGS1. That right there was classic videogame intensity. And who could forget Raiden and snake dealing it out in the arsenal jejunum or whatever.
