but grey fox of all people....he was captured and freed by a rookie. i don't see much potential in that.

umm maybe it was grey foxes idea to join fox hound because it doesn't give a date that he joined or his age we do know he is older then naomi hes most likely older then snake because when snake joined fox hound frank jagear already had the code name grey fox and it might have taken him some time to gain the trust of big boss

big boss probably knew foxhound would go under soon so he thought he'd give grey fox something to live for. If u've played mg2ss, he states some gibba jabba about giving people a war to fight and stuff. I mean, if the director of the CIA turned out to be like, osama bin laden, i think people would be pretty pissed. there'd be no CIA anymore. ...same thing...

Born as Frank Jaeger to German-American and Vietnamese parents, Frank's parents died during the Vietnam War while he was still a child. As a result, he was discriminated due to his half-caucasian heritage and was forced to work hard labour for the war effort. However, he was shortly taken into custody by Big Boss and became his foster son.
During the 1990s, Frank became a member of Big Boss' FOXHOUND unit and was one of its few members to be given the "Fox" codename, the highest commemoration given to any FOXHOUND agent. In 1995, Gray Fox was the agent assigned to "Operation: Intrude N312". Fox's objective was to gather data on a top-secret nuclear weapon that the fortified state of Outer Heaven was secretly developing. Several days later, Fox was captured by enemy forces and the last message he transmitted to headquarters were the words "Metal Gear". In the follow-up mission (Operation: Intrude N313), Fox was rescued by newly-recruited FOXHOUND member, Solid Snake and provided Snake with all the known facts about Metal Gear he collected. Together, they successfully destroyed the Metal Gear prototype under development in Outer Heaven.
