I'm not looking for a subtitle, just the name of this game. If you ask me, calling this Metal Gear Solid 4 is a bad idea. MGS to me is a trilogy and the themes have gone a complete cycle. I don't want a fourth installment.
MGS4 could be named something entirely different. It could be an entirely different game. They could call it MGS4 for promotional reasons, but only untill they start releasing demos and the game itself. Kojima has such a big fan base that he could name his game whatever he wants to, we still would know what game it is.
And hey, Snake can't be going after Metal Gears for eternity. Actually, beating the crap out of Metal Gear never has been the actual point of the games stories. In MGS4, I expect to see only Ocelot's RAY unit. That's all. Hell, MGS4 doesn't have to be about Metal Gear.
I would love it if he would scrap the METAL GEAR in the title. Just call it, let's say, The Patriots. That's more of a movie's name, but it would be a new direction to go for video-games. Now I'm not saying he should name this upcoming game The Patriots, only that he could skip METAL GEAR. Some people are trying to make up new names, like Metal Gear Compound I've heard and things like that. What if he would call it only Compound. This too is only an example.
So, to make my point clear. Let's say he was to name this game Metal Gear Solid 4: The Patriots. Just remove the actuall title and only keep the subtitle. Just a thought.

I get ya. I also like the idea of a game just called "Fox-Hound" which...I dunno...something to do with Fox-hound.
People would see it an their jaw would drop, they would grab it with their hands shaking, read the back, and buy it instantly.

nah i think there has to be the name "Metal Gear" in it!
But it doesnt nessesarly have to be "Solid"
Thats only if he decides to keep the trillogy or not.

I was thinking about the same thing TBoL! The subtitles so far have been Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater and they were all great. The subtitle for MGS4 could have something to do with the Patriots, why? Because Sons of Liberty was sort of a group, and Snake Eater meant killing the Cobra's, they both had something to do with an organization and so are the Patriots.
My bet:
Metal Gear Solid 4: La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo
Metal Gear Solid 4: Wisemen's Committee
Metal Gear Solid 4: The Patriots

Just a thought. i totally see where you're coming from, but i think that the name "metal gear" is essential to the entire series.. to me, "metal gear" represents the struggle for world domination and/or ultimate power over everything. which is usually the bottomline for every villian in history (fictional and non). metal gear isn't just a walking tank, it's a means to an end. |

You really got a point there. Never thought of it that way actually. But what if he made "Metal Gear" the subtitle? You know, like The Legacy of Kain has something like that. In one game you are the good guy, and in another one, Blood Omen, you're the bad guy. The bad guy game is called Blood Omen: The Legacy of Kain. So in MGS4's case, it could be something like this example: The Patriots: The Legacy of Metal Gear...  Okay, that's a big NO. ;D |

I think Metal Gear Solid 4: Snake Regurgitator would be great. Or how about MGS4: A Link To The Past...MGS4: Judgement Day. MGS4: Electric Bugaloo...
KIDDING!
Maybe MGS4: Shadow of the Patriots. Or MGS4: Shadow of the Hegemon. (Hegemony can be defined as: " The predominant influence, as of a state, region, or group, over another or others.")
MGS4: Rise of Outer Heaven? Think about it...if the Patriots are successfully defeated in this one, maybe Outer Heaven will become a reality...a Patriots-free society.

I knew that Big Boss was striving to get rid of them...but then...why Zanzibar land? Was that to be the next Outer Heaven once enough resources where gathered (Sorry if that is explained in it, I havn't played it much)
