Was thinking about this some today at work. You know how when you start off Operation: Snake Eater and you're going to meet up with ADAM (or rather EVA) and the Major provides you with the proper question and response that Snake is supposed to ask ADAM to confirm his identity - Who are the Patriots and the answer "La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo"? Why was this chosen as the question and answer? Do you think the Major came up with or better yet - was ordered by the Patriots - to make that the designated Q&A? Why did Tom choose that, in other words? Was he working with the Patriots?

It's a good point. But seeing how they never expanded on it, I believe it is just a cameo. If it was a relavant plot point, Kojima would've referenced it more and exapanded it.

That drives me crazy. Why wouldn't he elaborate on that more? I don't think it's a MGS2 reference at all, I think it pertains more to the interference of the Patriots.

Maybe we find out in MGS4 that Major Tom was the one who ressurects The Phisioliphers (organisation not the members) and renames the organisation to The Patriots??

Or maybe Major Tom would have died by that time.
