Though the first one is clear, 2D to 3D, I sill have to go with the second option.
The first preview of MGS2 blew me away, I'll never forget it. Yes MG2 was in 2D and MGS went into 3D, but still. MGS2 made it look real! Despite being well made, MG, MG2, and even MGS did NOT look real. MGS2 was the first game that did.

From Metal Gear Solid 3 to Metal Gear Solid 4 is the greatest leap in means of graphics. The trailer proved it all.

I've gotta go with Otty on this one. MGS3's graphics pale in comparison to that of MGS4.

I went for MGS-MGS2. It went from the most ugly looking thing to a great piece of work.
After you play MGS2 go and play MGS and you will know.

snakes flat looking face in mgs compared to the nice 3d look in mgs2 is the best change

There is not a big change in graphics from MGS3-MGS4. Well, it does look real, but it not really a graphical leap. But the transition from small polygons to full blown facial expressions in MGS-MGS2 was amazing. I couldn't stop watching the trailer. ;D

MG2-MGS: Huge leap, I mean 2D to 3D MGS3-MGS4: Massive leap in reality, almost like live footage.
MGS-MGS2: The very first time Metal Gear looked REAL. I'm glad to see the majority here see that. To me it is the biggest step, when things actually look REAL for the very first time.

AG, of course MGS2 was a huge step in terms of reality. But take a look at MGS4, that looks like reality reality. It's like MGS to MGS2. But now it's MGS2 that's MGS and MGS2 that's MGS4. Maybe it's a bit confusing but some know what I mean.

True, but the fact does not change that MGS2 was the first to look real. MG1, MG2, and MGS did not look real. How can you surpass the leap that made the series look truly realistic for the first time?

How about a graphic leap that makes it all foto-realistic?
Maybe not that big of a jump technically, but to our eyes it looks superb!

It looks as close to real life as possible. Remember, they're actually making the graphics look LESS real to give it a certain Metal Gear feel. They've never before had this much control over the appearance of a game. The real-time demo showed that this game is going to be a cinematic masterpiece. I doubt you can get a much bigger leap than that.

even though i said mgs1-2 was a big jump, doesnt mean mgs3-mgs4 isnt a big leap, it does look mind blowing, and when i first seen snakes face, for a lil while it didnt even look like the same character face, but after watching it a few times, you can clearly see its him, just highly enhanced, and you can easily tell its in game graphics due to every mgs has one set of graphics, and plus, its PS3

MGS3-MGS4, hands down. It went from realistic looking, to downright mindblowing. nothing tops that.
