Misc. Metal Gear Complaints!

Okay, I LOVE Metal Gear...but there are some things that I don't like. I will list them here, and add more as I go. Note that I posted most of my MGS2 complaints in Arsenal's Post, so I won't repeat them.

MGS:TTS....good idea to remake that one...but WHY would you remake that one before re-making the originals that nobody plays anymore? For instance, from what I can tell, in MG2, Big Boss never said anything about Snake being his son. However, this was added in during MGS...if they'd remake it, they could easily put this in.

Les Enfants Terribles...the whole clone thing is kind of confusing. It seems more like they were just test-tube babies rather than clones. None of them really look alike, despite protests from in-game characters. And also, Solidus was supposed to be the un-altered clone, right? but he looked the LEAST like Big Boss...and Solid Snake was supposed to be given all of BB's bad genes right...but he looks the MOST like BB...hmm. and also, the whole "Snake getting bad genes" thing doesn't work...that would make him just in terrible condition, going blind, deaf, bald, etc. here is my opinion...it is implied that Liquid was the superior (by the phone call at the end of TTS), Solidus is the un-tampered, and Snake is the bad gene guy. I think it should be Snake is the un-altered, Liquid is the superior, and Solidus was the bad gene guy. I don't think Solidus will be coming back, so that makes sense to me. I think Hideo is going for a "Gene's don't make the man"...but they do. Sorry. They don't write your role in the game, but they do decide the deck of cards you start it with, and right now Snake is playing with a baaaaad hand.

That whole "Liquid living in Ocelot's arm"....is ridiculous. First off...why the hell did Ocelot agree to have Liquid's arm put on him anyway? i'm sure they could have found someone else to take an arm from that wouldn't possess his body. If Liquid is going to come back, i don't want him as an old man. next, the implied justification of Liquid possessing Ocelot is that Liquid's genes are spreading into Ocelot and taking them over. But Foxdie a virus that attacks the cells...so it would thus spread into Ocelot...and kill him. This also adds to another reason that Ocelot should not take Liquid's arm.

Not sure how you came to think that Solidus' genes were un-altered. He's a delicate balance between recessive and dominant genes, that's all. And he looks the MOST like Big Boss. The way Kojima wanted Solidus to look was: take Solid Snake's looks and age them appropriately. He actually based Solidus off of Solid Snake. Since MGS2 didn't convince you that he looked the most like Big Boss (remember the fans hyping the MGS2 trailers and saying, "That's Big Boss!" about Solidus?), hopefully that will.

Remember that many of these genes that were recessive and dominant were the "Soldier Genes" that were isolated using the Human Genome mapping project. He wouldn't be blind or deaf or bald because Big Boss was neither blind, deaf nor bald. He didn't possess the genes for them.

And the thing about Liquid's arm, you have to remember. Ocelot's father was a chanaller (sp?), thus the life force still left in the cells of the arm would awaken due to Ocelot's genes. As for the bloodwork and FoxDie and Liquid's genes, another simple explanation. When doing a major trasnplant such as a physical limb of the body, they will drain the blood (and thus his genes and FoxDie) out so the host's antibodies will not attack and destroy the limb. To insure that nothing will mix with the genes in the limb, the arm is pumped with blockers and a type of special filter might be used for the first month or so.

And don't give me that "Oh, this is bullsh*t." crap either. My dad had to preform one of these, and he told me about it.

And from what I thought I heard, Solidus was just a direct clone of Big Boss, but I could be wrong. And how do you figure he looks the most like Big Boss? Maybe the older Big Boss, but obviously Solid Snake looks EXACTLY like Big Boss did in Snake Eater. And I didn't think there was an age difference between any of the Sons, but again, I am only relying on facts relayed in the game, nothing outside.

Any websites that could help educate me would be appreciated.

Remember, Ocelot's father (The Sorrow) had a very strong conection to the spirit world. Ocelot is probably no different. Being attached to a piece of a dead man will probably make it easy for the ghost of said dead man to possess somebody with such powers if they are so untrained in how to control or use them as Ocelot is.

Solidus was not a direct clone, but another genetically engineered child created during the Les Enfants Terribles project. He did not get all of the dominant genes nor did he get all of the recessive ones. He was engineered to be perfectly balanced. A direct clone would merely be the exact same genes of Big Boss with absolutely no tampering.

In a codec conversation in MGS3 EVA tells Snake that Ocelot was born on a battlefield and his mother had a snake-shaped scar. At the end of the game, The Boss reveals a snake-shaped scare on her chest while telling of her son. Two of the details she reveals are The Sorrow being the father, and that this beautiful baby boy as she put it was born in the middle of battle. Put two and two together and VOILA! We discover that Ocelot is the son of The Sorrow.

Could Raikov possibly be Raiden's father or maybe grandfather?

I would say not because he was both a homosexual and also died in 1964. If he dies in 1964, Raiden would have to be born no later than 1964-65 (assuming he weren't gay and he procreated with a woman). That would make Raiden way too old for his age in 2009 at The Big Shell.

wow...i really need to find a better walkthrough that let's me know everything such as when to radio who and what not...

Walkthrough? No no no no. NO WALKTHROUGHS OR STRATEGY GUIDES. Unless your competley clueless on what to do (And you shouldn't be when it comes to MGS games). Try finding a script of the Radio conversations, or a plot summary. I'm sorry if I'm being an ass right now, but I think that walkthroughs completley take the challenge in the game away. The 2 reasons I play videogames is 1: I wanna be challenged at pressing buttons in a sequence while knowing what to do without any help. 2: I wanna have some fun in whatever the game interests me. But you know, play how you wanna play.

i completely agree...but now i have beat the game three times on my own and i just want to play it through and get everything out of it that i can. but no, you didn't come off as an ass, a lot of people feel that way.
