I got a big shock today when they gave me the disk at GameStop. A. They werent' supposed to get until tomorow, and B. they weren't supposed to give it out until the game release. However, since I've been annoying them about it for a month now, they gave up the valued disk! ;D
The documentary itself is not long, only about 20 minutes or so, with 2 MGS4 trailers, 4 Substence Trailers and 2 Acid2 trailers as extras.
The Good:
* Interviews with Kojima!!! I can not stress this enough, get the DVD just for THAT! Why was MG2 created? A little girl's attitude created Raiden. MGS2 was originally supposed to take place in Iraq? Yes, all of that and more!!!
* I good run through all five games and the overall look at the series in a neat, well-presented package.
The Bad:
* Not long enough. Had I done the project, I would focus on not just recaping the story, but show how each game evolved the gameplay process. Especially the chapter on MG2, VERY short. Yet that game created the basis for everything the MGS games are loved for.
* 2 slap-in-a-face-to-an-MG-fan mistakes. While the flash of the timeline shows Outer Heaven set in 1994-95, the narration blunty states 1999, same as MG2. How that was overlooked is beyond me. Also, while talking about Shadow Moses, they said the nukes were pointed at Washington DC. As we all know, at first there was no defititive target announced. Later we learned it would be Chernington, Russia, and then changed to Lupnor, China.
Overall, a must-have for any MG fan, and it's FREE! A good solid package of MG history, interviews with Kojima, and a bunch of high-quality trailers to boot.
So why the hell are you still reading this? Go pick it up! NOW!
BTW, Kojima does state here that MGS4 will end the series and the story of Solid Snake.
