I'm not taking into account the Navy mass-produced RAYs, just the original. If you need to see the stats for them, check the Classified Index on MGF.

Well yeah, but that's assuming that the Navy mass-produce RAY has the same fighting ability as the Marin prototype. We never actually faced the Marine original. Not yet anyway.

Are talking about when they fight or just them on there own?
If it's for them on there own then I say REX. However, the mass RAY fight was amazing. I loved it on Extreme difficulty.

I'd probably say the original Marine RAY prototype. Just cause of its agility. The engine that RAY uses it's made out of artificialmuscle tissue, it resmbles human muscle tissue. It's made of a "macromolecular fiber" thatconducts electricity. The engine system is different from other ordinary engines that are based on mechanical activators and oil pressure. the engine makes it possible for RAY to perform a complex series of motin smoothly and effortlessly, unlike REX, who moved a little slower....I mean, damn, when it Ocelot destroyed the Tanker, the RAY jumped like hundreds of feet in the air! LoL, also when it caught the Harrier in the Plant chapter. I just think it would have a greater advantage at dodging the REX's attacks.
Also, RAY's armor is suppose to be the strongest state of the art, strongest armor there is. RAY's armor is made of a titanium, it's called "ceramic titanium alloy".
Well, inside RAY , there is a network of simple sensor arrays. When the condition of the armor changes, in other words when RAY is attacked, the sensors detect the damage like a network of autonomic reflex nerves, and can work as a "damage control system". That way it can perform functions such as shutting down the damaged area. It also repairs any holes made to the armor to some degree by using a kind of "nanopaste" that's inside the armor, when the armor is damaged, this "nanopaste" almost makes RAY seem like it's bleeding.

I personally think that it's a matter of who gets the first shot in, that's all. It's as simple as that. The hydro cannon or the laser. One clean shot, and it's over for either one.

I doubt that. There are many variations of Metal Gears out there, and RAY was built to reign over all of them.
I'm sure one of the variation (including REX) had a laser on it, thus RAY has armor that can block them.

RAY will sh*t on REX. All it has to do is lure it into the water and then ZAPPP.

REX isn't stupid enough to just walk into the water.
MG RAY would beat the sh*t out of REX. Best model out there.

But still the whole idea of RAY being amphibious really gives him the advantage.
All RAY has to do is equip a water hose and REX is GONE.

What if REX uses his Rail Gun on RAY? I know it's for ICBM's and not actual combat, but imagine the destruction REX could cause to any opponent if it manages to pull off one straight shot with it.
Of course then there's the problem that firing an ICBM on a short distance target probably means the end for both REX and the receiving opponent.

Comparing REX and RAY is like comparing a PS1 to a PS2. PS2 IS HEAPS BETTER! and can do everything PS1 can do and more Same goes for REX and RAY.
