I see it as a continuation of Snake Eater. The graphics are the same, so are the character models. The setting style is completeley modeled after MGS3. And though the game is set 6 years after Snake Eater, the characters for the most part look the same.
As such, I view it the same as having the Tanker and the Big Shell chapters in MGS2. It's the second part of Snake Eater. This is why I'm puting it under the Snake Eater header on MGF.

Yeah, it's pretty much just a new addition to the story. I'll give it a rent before I purchase, it might be cool.

I don't see how you can view it as a separate game. It's like saying that the Big Shell and the Tanker chapters are not 2 parts of the same game.
Character designs are the same. Area styles are the same. Movements are the same. The cast seems to be unchanged for the most part.

Frankly, I'd put it in the side-story-games section if you have one.

I do have a side story section, but the thing of it is, it's part of the main cannon. That's officially confirmed. It takes place after Snake Eater and is directly impacted by the events of that mission. Portable Ops, is the first cannon handheld title.
One other reason is that the title is more remenicent of an add-on or an expnasion, not a stand-alone installment.
"Portable Ops". Obviously a direct reference to the system it's on, and NOT the story like other installments.
To me, it seems something that would be in the same category as Integral, Substance, and Subsistence.

Yes it is part2 to Snake Eater, it should be added alongside with the Snake Eater section. Now also because of character models staying the same, there is probably a good reason, well maybe the Ocelot unit still exists and well since Ocelot (Revolver Ocelot which he will probably get to be known as in this installment) has a prestigious position within the unit, remember he is a "Major" even though he is a cold-hearted tripple crossing bastard. Anyway though I do feel as though they should have changed Eva's look, but whatever.....Now Snake though he looks different and since camoflauge wont play a major factor anymore ofcourse they had to change his look...now if anyone who sat down to listen to SIGINT talk about the special camo uniforms you acquire in Snake Eater, when you get to the Special sneaking suit you obtain in the Grozny Grad science lab locker room, SIGINT and Naked Snake have a conversation about how advanced the suit mechanics are and everything, then Snake mentions something about how they should make these types of special sneaking suits the official uniform or suit for the Fox Unit.....so hence that CQC enhancer suit they now have in Portable Ops.
