Remember what happened with the scrapped Arsenal Gear scene? No? Well, Arsenal Gear would crash in Manhattan. But then 9/11 came, so it was scrapped.
Now we have a Middle Eastern crisis going on and Metal Gear Solid 4 is to be said taking place in a Middle Eastern looking country.
You think some content is going to get canceled in Metal Gear Solid 4 do to the war going on now?
It's never been discussed.

LOL, didn't see that one. Sorry. Then think of this like continuing the last topic you made. So far Hideo Kojima doesn't seem to hold back anything, in the trailer we see full battle scenes, people dropping dead, etc. Maybe Kojima isn't really affected by whats happening in the Middle East.

Well I don't see Japan losing $50 dollars worth a barrel in oils because Bush invaded Iraq. I do see Japan losing a few stocks because there were alot of buyers and holders in the World Trade Center.
The footages in the GDC 06 trailer isn't really different from what's happening right now, exept for the really tall robotic dinosaurs that jump really high.

Gee, I wonder if that's anything like making forums sections (most at the request of others) that just get ignored and never used...

With the different locations you think the space is going to still be as contained as the last games, even in MGS 3 the jungle was pretty linear. I reckon there will have to be alot more freedom with some of the ideas they have on battlefield realism.

It would still be linear. The thing to remember is that Metal Gear games follow a set storyline, with set cutscenes in certain parts of the game. So no matter how you move around, you'll still have to be directed to the specific locations where you would fight a boss or see a cinema.
The only way to really avoid doing this is by droping the graphic quality down to the level of MGS1. With PS3 technology you could create a game that would have many vairous possibilities, since the memory of the console would not be spent on supporting the new graphics. That's about the only way to avoid having a set linear path.
Again, from any trailer you always think things will be big. Think of MGS2. Up until the later trailers that show gimpses of the Big Shell we all thought the whole game will take place on a tanker. In reality, it's a very small part of the actual game.
So while you will see more interaction with the environment and the personalities that occupy those environments, I'm certain that the linear MG formula will remain present.

I wouldn't mind if they actually kept the MGS2 graphics and improved the interaction alot, thats one of the things I still love about Sons Of Liberty is the destructable environments.

Just read some interviews guys, most of what you bring up Kojima talks about. Like, he said that they could create better graphics, but did not do so because a) he didn't want it to be photorealistic, but he wanted to keep the Metal Gear feel of it, and b) since you can itneract with everything as in destroy the whole lot, the graphics had to suffer. Just search for interviews with Kojima and you'll find this. And AG has a point about the set cut-scenes, but I think there's a small chance Kojima won't evolve his storytelling for the coming generation of consoles. And about the location, Otty. He has mentioned this as well. And I think there is no coincident the outline of the plot is what it is. I mean, in Iraq today, ther are PMCs (Private Military Contractors) and mercenaries. And Kojima has a pretty strong anti-war message throughout his Solid-series, do you think he wouldn't care for what is going on? Of course he is. And if he has something to say, why wait until things settles before doing so?
