If you have not seen them, don't read further and just head to the News section. Now... wow... So at the end we get a young Snake. What the hell! I hate it when Kojima does sh*t like that, but I also LOVE it! It really is great to get the old "what the hell" feeling in a Metal Gear trailer! There's really nothing like it and it's been a few years since I've had it. The gameplay looks amazing and graphics superb. I've yet to see anything on PS3 or 360 that impresses me more. Portable Ops... meh. Can't say I care. I think that Snake Eater was all the prequals that we needed. I got a PSP so I'll be sure to play it, but as I've said earlier, it seems nothing more than a filler. Sadly I'm sure there will be more to come. But hey, at least it's not another Acid. Overall, MGS4 is the star of the show. I mean, wow! About the only thing that annoyed me is that it seems that Kojima is pulling out the "Snake will die" message. That whole bit about looking young again... It's clear that he found a cure for his body's rapid aging. And this could mean that MGS4 may not end the cannon...

I don't think that only because Snake would've found a cure, his looks would return to normal (as in young looking). Either that young fellow is Snake before the rapid aging takes the upper hand, or that's someone else. Or maybe it's just a face camo!

Man, I just watched the trailer again, and I noticed that the "young" Snake had white hair sticking out! But when the camrea pans up and he is young, his hair is brown. So obviously it's something like a face camo. Like the Raiden mask-thingy in MGS3 perhaps?

Also, in the beginning, Snake gets up from the ground is his face is all cut up. Then all the cuts vanish. So yeah, it mostly likely is a cammo. Sneaky ass Kojima!

The transition message that reads "Some Legends Must Die" is still included though, AG. So Kojima didn't fully pull out the Snake dying thing. By the way, I love the way in which the "reveal" is done on Snake in that final scene. You see someone wearing Snake's gear, there's brown facial and head hair, but his hand is covering his face. Who is it, what....ahh...the hand moves and we see a grinning Snake. That's a truly cinematic touch, great "camera" work if you allow the comparison to stand true here.
Perhaps he does somehow get a hold of Big Boss' DNA and is able to "cure" himself, much like Liquid Snake strived to do for the Genome soldiers. He wanted Big Boss' DNA information to correct the faults in the Genome soldiers. Maybe in the world of Metal Gear, there is a way to reverse the curse. Crazier things have happened.

Im still going with the idea that Young Snake isnt part of the story, and that he's an alternate costume for MGO. I mean, c'mon! MGS4, next-gen console, great graphics, Hideo's last game... we want to play as Snake even if its MGO only! Plus, I always look way too into trailers, but at that last part where the bird took a crap on young Snake's face, I thought it was Hideo's way of saying he was bullsh*tting us.

See, now that's evolution! That's an installment! You look at stuff like Ghost Babel, Acids, and Portable Ops and it's just not the same. Yes I know they are handhelds, but the feeling is just not there like with the primary installments.
MG to MGS4 is a single greatest example of gaming evolution.
On a side note, I made a new decission about the game grouping on MGF. I will NOT be adding Portable Ops into MGS3. Instead, it will have it's own section.
The Alternate Gear button will change to Expanded Universe. In that section there will be two more buttons, each leading to another page. The first is the Cannon Filler (haven't come up with a good name yet, any ideas?) that will have Portable Ops and any future fill-in cannon titles. The second will take you to what we know as the Alternate Gear page which will have the non-cannon games.

That's a kick in the face for Konami.

I think that what I will do is this:
Main Page Link: Expanded Universe - Cannon Filler: Supplement Gear - Other games: Alternate Gear
And I will rename the current Supplement Gear section into something like Features. This will make more sense.

Just watched the new MGS4 trailer! Solid Snake is one hell of a badass on the battlefield. That Octo-Camo is almost like magic! There was one scene in particular, he's crawling the the other side in a small ditch to throw a grenade towards the enemy. I didn't even see him at first! ;D And as always Hideo Kojima couldn't leave us with a big question mark above our heads. Never thought to see Solid Snake so young at the end! I simply can't believe it's just a face camo, why would Solid Snake want a face camo of himself? It's no use. I think it has to do with those medications we saw in the first trailer.

Are we all forgeting shinkwaka's drawing of big boss's body that we saw back in november 2004??? Maybe this has something to do with this mysterious young snake. or maybe he starts off young and slowly dies throughout the game.....

But how do you explain the white hair he had only two seconds prior to that?

Ohhh i see. When he still has the mask on you can see his hair from the back like Raiden in MGS2 in the scuba suit.
I cannot wait for this game!
EDIT: Look at his facial structure its not thin like old snake its round.

I got this of a comment on the gametrailers.com site for the MGS4 trailer (hoping a HD version be updated) "Did Kojima ever say you play Solid Snake all the time? Eye patch, knife, cigar... Big Boss? Snake said "I don't do blades" and yet he has a knife now? Two Snakes again perhaps? Did we really play through MGS3 to see the last of Big Boss? It was my theory since the very first trailer many moons ago (which was more obvious then since he had the eye patch, knife, mustache all in one package). Prove me wrong." I don't know...misleading theory? I mean where the hell is Vamp of all places!? Well the whole Young Snake look could also just be a nice add on for those who were froward to the MGS4 1st trailer thinking "omg Snake on a next gen system, highly realistic detail and everything". Side note: Now if in the future there is a way to port models from PS3 (you never know these days) it would help for what next gen game for the PC, like how people are porting Xbox games into 3Max and converting it into whatever game that can support it, like how Snake shot both Freeman and Master Chief.

I figured it out!
Possible spoilers!
Okay so that bird for some reason has become a scavenger...as such, it feeds off of dead bodies. Liquid was carrying around the remains of Big Boss, and the glass containment was dropped and shattered! Birds came and ate it. Not long after, the remains digested, and then...the bird pooped on Old Snake! Big Boss's DNA miraculously cures him!
See...was that so hard?
No but seriously, I think that at this point, we have to figure...we probably have NO idea the true meaning. I think the face camo idea is the most logical, but still flawed. If it were a camoflouge, the poo would have likely glitched it, as would the wiping it off.
Though one thing, Snake is wearing his mask when he is sneaking about, and then he disables the camo and from what i can tell, makes no movement to remove the mask. so i guess that is another argument for the face camo
i dunno, i think that if it is some camo, that that is kinda dumb. there is no point to it.
