I think that a Metal Gear movie is something that NEEDS to happen.
Look at the main cannon. It's a constant evolution, and no game series shows it more clearly. A movie is what it needs to finish the evolution.
Stage 1: MG and MG2SS - 2D origins.
Stage 2: MGS - first steps into 3D and a "movie" feel.
Stage 3: MGS2SOL and MGS3SE - reality achieved.
Stage 4: MGS4 - reality refined, pinnacle of gaming.
Stage 5: Movie - REAL people.
It needs to happen.
