I'm going to start some work on the currently empy Expanded Universe Section and I was hopeing to get some feedback.
How do you feel that section containing the Portable Ops games and the Digital Novels?
Now I did consider putting the Digital Novels under the respective game sections. I've aslo considered naming the section Portable Gear since all the titles are on the PSP.
My reasoning right now is that Portable Ops is a filler game, not a main installment. It uses the game engine of MGS3 and as such can't really be seen as a "new" game. In terms of story it isn't actually needed. Yes it offers new things to the overall cannon, but the story did not require it. As such, it basically expandis MGS3. The Digital Novels expand the story of MGS1 and 2 respectively. Add to the mix that all of them use comic-style cutsenes I think they fit well together in the same section.
Thoughts?

I agree with everything besides what you said about the story in PO. I belive that if Kojima adds somthing to the story, it is needed.

What I meant about the story is that without the PO storylines, the series still works. About the only thing that was added was the funds the Big Boss got for Outer Heaven (could've been left unrevealed) and creating of the Patriots.
Naturally there are a lot of goodies that add depth to the overall story, but it wasnt' actually needed. Is it a good addition? Yes. But the story would've still made perfect sense without.

Yeah, no doubt. But I like the small details, you know. And I find it hard to say anything bad about PO's story since it was so damn powerful (when Big Boss got the future read to him).

I'm just wondering if MPO should have a separate section on it's own or be grouped with the Digital Novels. Both are for the PSP and both serve to exapand on the existing material.
