Check this out, guys. Today I got a fax from Somei, Maeda & Nakagawa, Attorneys at Law representing Konami of Japan for notices of copyright infringement under the Digital Millenium Copyright Act. The downloads section on my site is done for. Every MG file, be it music or trailers or even ROMS must be removed. I'll scan the pages tonight so everyone can get a look at what they had to say. Damn you, Tatsuya Nakagawa!

Can you really do that? I'm not so sure you can. What did they do, exactly?

And what if you don't remove it? They can't do you anything. They are just scaring you.
You can try putting all your files on another website and say you removed it.

they plaster there name all over there stuff, you should edit your trailers with your name at the start, a big Metal Gear Confidential insignia, its easy to do if you have Nero or even MS media creater/editor

But can that really stop the faxing to Jackyl? What's the difference if you put a big insignia on all the files? I think they will still contact him.

To revive an old topic..well, it's better than making a new one, right... I just emailed Mr. Nakagawa, Konami's legal rep. and this is what I said: Mr. Nakagawa, I am writing on behalf of my website, Metal Gear Confidential (www.mgconfidential.com), a non-profit fan site which is being pursued for copyright infringement by yourselves and those who you represent. I have been advised to communicate with you directly instead of through my domain host. Currently, there are music files, ROM files and video files hosted on my domain which have come under the scrutiny of Konami and their representatives for copyright infringement. In order to keep my site going, I am willing to remove this material to avoid any problems in the future. I will remove all music and ROM files in accordance to your demands. However, I claim a fair usage right to host video files (e.g. trailers) on my site so long as I make it visibly clear to visitors to my site that the material is copyrighted by Konami and show proper attribution in all instances of these materials. Furthermore, I will also post a disclaimer that my site it in no way affiliated or representative of Konami or its products. To recount what has been said, I am stating that I am willing to remove all music and ROM files to meet copyright requirements but still claim the right to host copyrighted videos as long as proper attribution is given to the materials and that all such materials are not my own original works. What I need from you in writing is that this is acceptable and that we both agree to these terms. Please work with me so I can get my site back! With Great Respect, (Name Mysteriously Edited, muahahahaaaa) Webmaster, Metal Gear Confidential www.mgconfidential.com

Now that I've got my info backed up, I need a new host, one that allows at least 500 MB disk space and no less than 30 GBs of bandwidth per month.
