I was just thinking about this.
Since March 5th, 2001 I have had a website and forum to check on, virtually every day. Many problems, solutions, designs, and most importntly, PEOPLE have come and gone.
What would I do, if MGF was gone? In all honesty, I've come to think of this place as home on the internet. What would I do if it was gone.... I really don't know. I'm so used it being here, that the notion of MGF gone is just... well, disturbing.
It's like passing by a house you grew up in, knowing that it's not your anymore. When I started MGF, I was very new to the whole Internet thing.
My dad got a computer in 1997, but I didnt' get into it until around 98 to 99. In the summer of 99 I finished high school and got a PlayStation. Got into MGS then. I really didn't start forum hoping till early 2000. and by Spring 2001 MGF was born.
Most of things I learned about the online world was through here. Will the day when MGF goes down for the count come? Though I did conteplate in the past taking the site down, I now see that it wouldn't last. I would put it back up. But if something happened that was outside my power... what then? This place is a part of me, and has been for nearly half a decade.
I look back with a smile to the very first MGF member, Vyrus, I hope he's doing well in life. The first meeting with Jackyl and Confidential back in the EZboard days. The wars I had with MGN and [creepy little bastard]. The cloud of the Soup and Ravi leaving... There's history there! Not many sites can say that. I look fondly on those memories, and wonder what the future holds.
