Right the forums are hidden and an account has to be open by me in order for the person to be an active member.
But we are getting A LOT of new members registering... I was just wondering if we should open the forums up. It's not as if we can tell if it's [creepy little bastard] or Genaside under a different name anyways... Should I go ahead and open it?
If yes, there are two precautions I would recomend: 1. All the active posting members will be upgraded to that staff postion that some of you have (gold members).
2. I would suggest keeping your email hidden (modify your profiles).
Let me know how you feel about this.

Sure thing. The issue has died down. All members posting right now should get that positon just in case though.

My main concern is that the member list will be available for "anyone" to see. I just don't want anymore accounts hacked. But at the same time, if we want the forum to go on, we can't keep people locked out.

Open it up. Security and awareness are both up around here, if somebody starts making trouble you, Otty, Econs, or Jackyl can give them the ole' banning treatment.

That's the easy part, but banning [creepy little bastard] did not keep him from hacking accounts. In fact, there is evidince in the security log that "Guest" has requested the password retrival for your account and The Son of Big Boss in the late August. Things like that have me concerned.

Even better, if Ag gave us the power to ban and delete.

You have the power to ban.
My concern with giving anyone the "delete" power is that if the mod account is hacked, that can do some SERIOUS damage.

I think it's a chance we'll have to take. [creepy little bastard] hacked my account by pulling my email password using a keylogger that tracked my keystrokes via my IP address and requesting my password to for the forums to be sent to it. If we hide our emails and IPs from him we'll pretty much be all set.

Let's open the doors.
But... that means that EVERY new member that dares to even break one rule can get the hell out of here. I'll be like an eagle watching every one of them.
We got to make every trust worthy member a goldmember if we are going to open this place, since I'm sure [creepy little bastard] will come back like a little dirty brat. And everybody got to hide there email address on there profile!
I say let's do this, and do it good.

OK then.
The first thing I want all of you to do is go through your profiles and make sure that your IP and emails are hidden.
VERY vital.
Once you all did it, then we can open the doors.

All right, if we hear that at least one account has been hacked, they should be closed again to fix the problem, ya?
