Like me, I'm sure everyone here is afraid their computer has been hacked at one point or another. For this, I have decided to link you to one of the best guides out there, written by Drake.

I'd also like to add a few comments. Webroot Spy Sweeper is one of the best antivirus/spyware programs I've ever used. It beats the sh*t out of Norton and it's cheaper. If you can't afford it, you can just download the free trial and sweep once, or use BitTorrent to grab the full version.
Also, a great thing to have is Security Task Manager (http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/download.html) It tells you if the processes running in the background are a threat (or possibly ad/spyware) and if so, how bad they are.
