Howdy.
I wanted to see who all is a fan of Big G and waited for the American release (or UK) of the last Godzilla movie this planet will see for another 5-9 years. I'm talking about Godzilla: Final Wars.
So anyway, I got to watch the movie this weekend. Holy moly it was awsome. Lots of action from not only Godzilla and the numerous kaiju who make an appearance, but even the human actors have some pretty cool action scenes. It was like an Asian, sci-fi movie with some, but well known giant monsters thrown in (ie: Mothra, Gigan, King Ghidorah, etc). Kind of a mixture of the Matrix and Dragon Ball Z.
Without giving the whole thing away, I'm sure some of you are aware of the horrible 1998 American made Godzilla movie (I'm sure it was not only the first... but the last.) starring Matthew Broderick and a cheesy CG animated "Godzilla". Well in Final Wars, the makers wanted to put an end to that creature and make sure everyone knew who was the better Godzilla. It just so happens that one of the creatures Godzilla has to fight is the American Godzilla (who was named Zilla in the movie). Well without giving away HOW, Zilla got his butt handed to him pretty quickly and easily. It was certainly one of the better moments in the film, and a nice poke to America from Japan. Don't mess with Godzilla, and for sure don't think you can make a better one.
One big surprise with this movie was the use of an American actor (No, not the main character). This guy I never heard of, named Don Frye (who I guess used to wrestle in UFC and is now an actor/stuntman) plays a really good general. Although he had some cheesy lines, I thought they fit his character and they came off real funny. Besides Godzilla I thought the General Gordon character was great.
I'm horrible at reviewing things, so I'll stop there. Bottom line, if you're a fan of Godzilla and want to see something a little different, I think this latest Godzilla movie is a must see. Like I said, it's the last one you'll see for a few years now so it's deinately worth a look.

And the small, but funny fight between Godzilla and Zilla:
