I’m a huge fan of Big Cats and an even bigger fan of the Lion vs Tiger debate. But after doing some research on the topic around the net, I see just how truthful the plot of MGS2 really was. We are drowning in information. There is so much garbage that’s now preserved in digital form that it’s scary! I’ll sue the Lion vs Tiger issue as an example to show just how grave the situation really is.
Everyone can a make a site or a page and put whatever they want on it. Some that appear to be credible, like Wikipedia are still made by people with opinions. And the scary part is that personal beliefs are being presented as if they were facts. Look up the word “tiger” on Wikipedia. Under the extinct species you’ll see some info on the Caspian Tiger. At the end they put up a little note that this tiger was victorious over the Barbary Lion in the Roman Colloseum. Now, how the hell do you put that up a legit fact? You can’t! What evidence do you have of what happened in animal fights during the Roman times? And this is supposed to be an objective source of info. Look at the lion. They give the measurements for an average size cat, yet with the tigers they go out of the way to talk about maximum sizes and even records. Yes, the tiger has broken the 800 lb mark, but so has the lion. It is clear that it’s done by tiger-favoring author. Looking at videos of Lion vs Tiger fights, and the comments from the people who posted them. They claim things that just don’t exist and try to pass them off as facts.
This is an issue that’s very serious. How can one tell what is fact and what is opinion? I strongly believe that a source like the Internet must be filtered and supervised. This amount of useless info is dangerous and will slowdown the progress of the human race. Not everything needs to be passed on. Should you have your own opinion on something? Yes. Does it really need to be preserved for the future? No. Something as small as the Lion vs Tiger issue is still a source of dangerous amounts of misinformation.
