Black Snake will take notice I'm sure, since he knows the cat. My oldest cat Charlie has been diagnosed with FIV, Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. It is the same thing as HIV in humans. Being an outdoor cat, and with a temper, he has gotten into many fights. This desease is spread through a bite. If any of you have outdoor cats, take caution and do some research. In any case, now all I can do is make him comfortable. It is never known how long the cat will live, it all depends on the immune system of the individual animal. The hard part is that if he gets really bad, I'll have to put him down. The cat is 12 years old, and I've had him for 11 years. Tuesday's suck!

Oh sh*t.......that was the most badass cat I ever knew for the majority of my life. I remember when he bit off a rabbits ass in your yard, and we took the rabbit in. And then he caught like 4 birds and bit them to hell.
I remember the good days.........

He lost wait rather badly, though he's still 12 lb. He's not eating too well either.
Basically, FIV eats away the immune system. The desease itself does not hurt the cat, but any infection would be devastating and/or fatal since the cat can not cure itself.
I got some stuff from the vet today to boost his immune system, so we'll see if it works. For now, we have to make sure he eats well and keep him infection free. Any illness, we'll have to get him to a vet immediatly and try to cure it, since he can't do it by himself anymore. The desease is not curable, so we have to make sure to modify his lifestyle.
Only time will tell. Each cat reacts different to this. Charlie, who survived two bibi gun shots (second one pulling the bullet out himself), is tough. I hope he can fight this.

Thats terrible, I have a cat and I'm glad she's healthy, obese and lazy but healthy. I hope he pulls through, pets are'nt just companions, their more like siblings, relatives what have you.

Charlie was a very active cat. Now he's just laying back, being a the king at AG's old house. Everyone else works and does stuff, while Charlie walks around, eats, and sleeps. Best way to live your elder days. To bad he has FIV.

The problem is that he's an outdoor cat, which increases the chances of an infection. Cats with FIV can live just as long and healthy as cats who don't have it, but you have to catch their illnesses quickly and cure them.
The problem, is that I don't know if Charlie has any current infections.
The main test will be in the colder months. He always bulks up for the winter. If he doesn't, or if he looses more weight, then we'll know the game is coming to an end.
If it comes to it, I'll be the one to take him in to get put down. But I just don't know how I'll be able to do it after nearly 12 years. I dread that day more than my own mortality.
