This is kinda big! Only one of the original 7 Wonders of the World (not natural) remains today. So they are picking the new 7! The list has been narrowed down to 21 and you got about a year to place your votes: www.new7wonders.comYahoo! Story: news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20061017/od_nm/britain_stonehenge_dcPersonally, the ones I'm SURE of to put on that list are: 1. Pyramids of Giza, Egypt 2. Colosseum, Rome 3. Great Wall, China 4. Chichen Itza Aztec site, Yucatan, Mexico 5. Taj Mahal, Agra, India 6. Acropolis, Athens, Greece 7. Kremlin/St.Basil's, Moscow, Russia I was shocked to see that US got the Statue of Liberty up in the running. That's rather dumb to me. It may stand for a lot, but Mnt. Rushmore is a hell of a lot more of a wonder that a dinky green statue. I actually would put Mnt. Rushmore on the list had it was in the top 21. US will not make it into the final list I bet with the Statue of Liberty.

Well when you consider that the Collosus of Rhodes was essentially the same thing (but possibly golden? Can't remember), I see the reasoning behind the Statue of Liberty.

Yeah but you have to consider when it was built. Further more, if the Statue of Liberty makes it in, it'll be an emberressment to US. It'll be the first Wonder that wasn't even built by the country which it represents!
Besides, the whole voting thing is a bad idea. Who will win? Well, the country that has the most internet users. So, sadly the Statue of Liberty is a shoe-in...
Logically, you gotta figure the MUST-HAVES, regardless of where you are from:
1. Pyramids of Giza, Egypt 2. Colosseum, Rome 3. Great Wall, China 4. Chichen Itza Aztec site, Yucatan, Mexico 5. Taj Mahal, Agra, India 6. Acropolis, Athens, Greece
But then there are other heavy hitters like Stonehenge, Amesbury, United Kingdom and the Easter Island Statues, Chile.
To me the above 6 have to be there. They are architectural marvels, even by today standards.
My reasoning for picking the Red Square in Russia is really because it is the most intimidating structure of the recent world. Look at imagery from the Cold War (even in Snake Eater) that shows Soviet military parades. It looks like something out of a fantasy world! It's a mix of anchient and modern. European and Asian.
I think that the category is too big. I don't think that the Pyramids and the things like the Statue of Liberty should be in the same league. There should be a devision. Some stuff is just to anchient.
If it was up to me, I would do 2 lists from the 21 chosen, Ancient and Modern.
Ancient
1. Pyramids of Giza, Egypt 2. Chichen Itza Aztec site, Yucatan, Mexico 3. Great Wall, China 4. Chichen Itza Aztec site, Yucatan, Mexico 5. Stonehenge, Amesbury, United Kingdom 6. Easter Island Statues, Chile 7. Colosseum, Rome
Modern
1. Eiffel Tower, Paris 2. Red Square, Moscow 3. Statue of Liberty, New York And others.

yeah, i think thats rather stupid to have like statue of liberty, the sydney opera house, the red square or the eiffel tower in there... the others are pretty much awesome and way more wonderous than those four.
