I was hoping to get some conversations about the lightsaber duels from the movies. And perhaps discuss some fantasy duels.
Darth Maul vs Mace Windu
Qui-Gon vs Count Dooku
Yoda vs Darth Vader
And so on. Anyone else a fan of the duels?

Duels aren't bad. I like it when Vader uses his badass force choke stuff on people, but thats about it.

My opinion on all of them:
Episode IV: Obi-Wan vs Darth Vader
Lame and boring... I know it was the first film and all, but still. By far the least entertaining one.
Episode V: Luke vs Darth Vader
Much better! Had a lot of great moments and the fight moved into different areas. This was definetly the most entertaining one in the original trilogy, even though Vader was mostly toying with Luke. And to cap it off, "Luke, I am your father". Priceless!
Episode VI: Luke vs Darth Vader
Big build up but the fight was kinda lame. Luke was too hesitant to fight and Vader was noticably weaker and slower at that point. Not as good as to be expected from the grand finale.
Episode I: Qui-Gon Jinn vs Darth Maul in the Desert
Short and sweet. Really gives you a good preview of what's to come. Just the right length and quality to get you wanting more!
Episode I: Qui-Gon Jinn & Obi-Wan vs Darth Maul
Best fight in the entire franchise, Period! First of all it was one on two, then there was the most iconic moment of Maul busting out a second blade! Not to mention it was all pure skill, with Ray Park (Maul) doing an awesome job of choreographic the whole thing. Granted I wasn't happy that my favorite Star Wars charicter, Qui-Gon, had to die... but still. An amazing fight and by far the best in the series.
Episode II: Count Dooku vs Obi-Wan, Anakin, & Yoda
Well, the fight was lame due to the amount of CGI involved. I like the approach of giving Dooku the fencing style. But it was lame. Christopher Lee was too old to do the fight so they only used him in the closeup shots and someone else in the fight sequences. Overall, a lot of pointless spining and twirling the sabers. Anakin is a dumbass and a Kenobi as still-ass Brit... 'nuff said. Yoda busting out the saber was cool, but again, all CGI. And when the CGI is blatenely noticable it takes away. Nothing special here.
Episode III: Obi-Wan vs General Grievous
How dumb was that! 4 lightsabers and he was handled like a punk! They should've just kept Darth Maul alive and used him again. Kenobi vs Maul round 2! Instead this 7 foot metal idiot.
Episode III: Mace Windu vs Palpatine
Gag!!! That's what happens when the actor get to press his star power and influence sh*t. Mr. Sam Jackson wanted a dramatic death (and a unique purple lightsaber). So he has a fight with another old man. Neither one can really perform with a sword. And what, now CGI is used in certain shots to replace the actors all together!!! GAG!
Episode III: Yoda vs Darth Sidious
My favorite bout in Episode III, though it wasn't that great to due CGI. But the concept was sweet, ultimate good vs evil clash. Two mega-Force users going at it. Great stuff.
Episode III: Anakin vs Obi-Wan
Overated!!! Some say it was the best but I think NOT! So much of pointless spinning of the sabers... the whole thing just looked so cheap and fake. Not to mention the whole inches away from lava and still dueling?! They are Jedi, not Superman! You can't be that close to that stuff and be ok! Geez! Anyway, a dissapointement as I was looking forward to it.
Best fight was definitely in Episode I, by a HUGE margin!

After seeing your thoughts I had to watch the parts without any audio so the music doesn't play with the whole duel. Well Grievous was over done in the Clone Wars cartoon and maybe turn down in the new CGI remake so I knew it was going to be a sad fight for when Obi-Wan. I rather stick with the Original Trilogy styles of saber duels. So Obi-Wan vs Anakin and yes...even Darth Maul vs Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan I don't care so much. Even if Jedis and Sith would fight like that, George would of made Force Users overly powerful then in the Original Trilogy. I would have to say Darth Vader vs Luke in ESB because its long enough to see how much Luke's courage was tested, even if it was all for nothing.
On a side note: People ask me the whole Anakin vs Obi-Wan is overrated because there was not enough CGI nor "hypercombat" style in it.

Gotta agree the Darth Maul battle was the best. It had one of the best battle music ever made, "Duel of Fates." The second part was sweet too, Obi vs. Maul. Did you see how freakin fast they swung their sabers? Amazing.
Plus, Darth Maul is my fav Sith. >.<
I would've loved to see a Maul vs. Yoda fight.

Darth Maul was baddest of the asses in the prequels. You don't mess with a dude with red and black skin, and horns coming out of his scalp. Not to mention a guy with tremendous lightsaber skill and force power.
As with Anakin and Obi-Wan: "I've got the high ground!" is all that was needed to make that duel completley cheesy and uneeded.
EDIT: This is kinda weird, but I'd like to see Maul vs. Vader.

That one fight between Anakin and some weird Sith Lord in the mini series "Clone Wars" was entertaining. It was pretty long too.
