I have a large screen TV that just fizzled out, and then smelt a smoke like smell coming from the back, is it fixable to anyones knowledge?

Sounds like its overheated and burnt the circuit board. If the TV is still under warranty then you should be able to get it repaired. But its not D.I.Y (Do it Yourself) job.

Yes, even if it seems simple and it's a small thing that you think you can fix - you should not attempt to open your LCD up to investigate and/or fix it. You could do major harm this way.

No warranty, it's just a bigscreen projection, not an LCD or HD.
If the tube burnt out, I'm screwed right?

Is it a CRT TV. Those fat old school ones?
Because if it is, there is no point repairing it you might as well pick up a HDTV. If you do make sure you get one with a built in HD tuner and HMDI and with a resolution of at least 720p.

no point fixing a crt tv nowadays, do as anthony said and get a new hardcore tv.
