Hi-Def PS2

Hey dudes,

Got a question. I just got a HDTV and component cables so I could play my PS2 through it, but I can't figure out why it looks like hell. I'm trying to play Snake Eater and it doesn't quite look up to par. Is it possible to play PS2 games in hi-def?

Not sure about that. It may not be compatible with it. See, I think that maybe the advantage of the PS3. It will allow you play PSone and PS2 games on HDTV.

Right now I have a regular TV. When I got my PS3 I tried MGS1 and MGS2 in it and it look choppy. There was a PS1/PS2 filter thing that had to be turned on and then the games looked good.

So I don't know. Anyone got an HDTV to confirm?

Ive played PS2 games on my HDTV on a PS2 and they look OK.
PS2 wont look good on a HDTV because the resolution of a HDTV is MUCH higher then the PS2's native resolution.
I cant think of the PS2's native resolution but its either 640x480 or 800x600.

PS2 looks good on an analogue TV because the resolution is low and doesn't have to be stretched.

But for PS2 games looking better on a PS3 rather then a PS2. I don't see that much of a difference.

The PS2 game doesnt output 1080p on the PS3. The PS3 upscales the images the game produces to 1080p so its still being stretched.

PS3 better supports HDTV's resolution since it is a hi-def console.

Well i dont know.

Coz ive played my PS2 games on the PS3 using component cables and my PS2 games on the PS2 using COMPOSITE cables.

I dont have a PS2 anymore so yeh its not like i can go try it out.

My "sony-fan" friend doesn't owns an HDTV yet, so I can't don't know. Sorry,
