Not really, I didn't. I decided to have a topic and see if any of you have had personal experience with what I'm about to go into.
So we'll flash back to three nights ago: I'm finishing up Snake Eater for the umpteenth time and EVA's speech is playing out. My girlfriend is balled up on the couch next to me doing I can't remember what, but be assured it was probably something girly. When Snake sets the flowers down at Boss' grave and EVA's speech is coming to a rousing climax where her voice falters and breaks as she tells Snake of the Boss' true intentions, my girlfriend interjects disgustedly with this gem: "Give me a break, this is so gay.."
Totally ruining my mood. I had a brief fantasy like in that part in True Lies when Schwarzenegger breaks the used car salesman's face in with a backhand but then it's revealed he was only dreaming of doing it. The scene is totally out of context for her since she has no idea what's been going on in the plot, and she chimes in "that's gay.."
Sure, because it's a videogame and not Desperate Housewives or Ugly Betty. I really wanted to defend it and point out how closeminded she is about this stuff compared to how petty and trite her primetime television shows are, but I just smirked and said "Gay, huh?" with a bemused grin while shaking my head. But for a second there, her pretty little neck looked so tempting and fragile...
AG, I know you've got the rare exception of your gf actually liking the Solid series, but you might still be able to contribute.
