"....When asked about the rumors that the console would cost 500 dollars, Fornay stated that getting a system that supported HD quality video, Blu-ray support and the other features at a price around 500 Euros ($613 U.S.)." ps3.ign.com/articles/700/700257p1.htmlHowever sony it self doesnt confirm this.

The technology is top noch, no question there. But how useful would it be to an average gamer? Granted, we are heading into the HD era. I guess I'm not shocked. This may be the last game console I will be buying, so I'm ok with it. I'm really getting it for MGS4 for the most part, so I don't care about the price. I'll get the system around the time the game comes out. Maybe it will drop in price by then.

I'm gonna drop when it gets to HD era, maybe revisit the PS2 and play classics, but I'm going out once it gets to that point where we rely on top noch TV and top noch consoles for games to accually work.

That won't happen for a longass time man.
HD is not even close to being the standard TV everyone has.
