3 points I must make:
1. I never give up my old consoles anyway. Still use my PlayStation for the PlayStation games. And will continue to use my PS2 for my PS2 games.
2. Sure there are issues, but guess what, they will be fixed in future waves. First few waves of a console suck, it's that simple. Wait a good year before investing in one.
3. I don't care. I'm getting a PS3 to play PS3 games, not replace my current consoles. Treat them with care and they will last.

Give sony time. Just like the PSP we will be getting major firmware updates for the PS3. Once you hit about Version 2.0 we will see some of the PS3's true potential.

Exactly! It makes very little sense to buy a system this early. There are bugs and glitches galore due to the rushed production. By the time MGS4 comes out, I'm sure the system will be up to code.

And everyone knows how rushed release date consoles are. Im not getting the PS3 untill MGS4 and/or the second price drop of the 60GB.
The 60GB is $999 in Australia!
