I really think that MGS4 is the golden goose of the PS3. Not to downplay the importance of other games, but who else got the details and the hype that Kojima brings? I really do think that there will be a lot of PS3 sales IF MGS4 remains an exclusive. If they go over Kojima and decide to port it to 360 the PS3 will be on the way to certain doom. It's like if 360 lost Halo. If you think about it, MGS4 has been at the top of the PS3 hype. It is THE game everyone is waiting for. Without it...

I don't think the PS3 would choke without MGS4, but it would definately "be a noticable hit to it".
The funny thing is, MGS1, MGS2 and MGS3 were all reasons alone to buy the console they were developed for. And that's not just my opinion. I've seen probably hundreds of reviews for these games and many of them say so. It's really impressive.

I really think that Sony screwed up with their approach to the PS3 sales.
The whole shortage of consoles worked before because: 1. The PS2 was the only game in town for a year. 2. The PS2 was the only one backwords compatible. 3. Xbox was an unknown. 4. Game Cube was a flop, for the most part.
This time around, they are fighting uphill: 1. Both 360 and Wii are popular now and have a strong hype. 2. 360 got a year head start. 3. Wii is getting all the props on innovation. 4. The PS3 is by far the most expensive.
So playing the shortage game is a bad move. This could be the reason why Konami could consider ports. Perhaps the PS3 will struggle with sales before arrival of MGS4...
