As you may or may not know the PAL PS3's have reduced backwards compatibility because its emulating using software rather than how the US/JP PS3's emulate using hardware. More to the point i cant play MGS2 on my PS3 I can play the Document of MGS2 but not the actual game. Anyone else having trouble with backwards compatibility? Or does anyone actually have a PS3?

You may be the only one here with a PS3 at the moment. I'm waiting for close to MGS4. The only thing that would promp me to purchase one ealier would be if they release a demo in the near future.
The way I see it, the longer I can hold our the more bugs they wourd out of the system. The price tag doesn't bother me since I make enough money. But I do want to make sure I'm getting my money's worth, and not something that will malfunction or be incomplete.

Just play it on your damn PS2. Thats not the point!!!!! hahahahha I paid $999AUD for a PS3 it should f...cking play PS2 games!!! hahha well i didn't actually pay anything for it..... BUT ITS NOT STOLEN!! So don't go thinking im some a-hole who steals things. I traded in heaps off PS2 and XBOX games i could round up from everyone i knew. It took me a week but it was worth it! But i have some good news! They just updated the PS3 to version 1.70 today and guess what game is now compatible!!!! MGS2!! Hahahha yay! But yeah I wouldn't recommend PAYING for a PS3 now because of the lack of games. The system itself is rather well built unlike most release date consoles. Quiet and doesn't heat up too much. Its worth ur cash if your going to use all its features such as BLU RAY. I have a HD TV with HDMI which does every resolution up to 1080i. So you can imagine how great BLU RAY movies look in comparison to DVD. If you dont have a HDTV then really its not worth it i can tell you right now DO NOT BUY ONE(PS3 or BLU RAY or HD-DVD Actually don't buy HD DVD at all regardless) if you dont have a HD TV.

I never care what other features the console can do. I don't care what DVD's it can play or even if it makes coffee. I get the system to play games. And in most cases, it's Metal Gear games.
MGS4 is the ONLY reason why I'm buying a PS3. And as long as it plays that game well, that's all that matters to me.

Oh please... I’m only saying that because you speak English. If I was fluent in Japanese I would most likely own a Japanese PlayStation and games. The fact is, if the US version works better, and you can use it, then why not? National pride? Gimme a break!

I would of bought an import but then i couldnt play AUS BLU-RAY or DVD movies on it. I should of bought an import cause the US$ and AUS$ current exchange rate is pritty good 1 AUD = .82 USD.
The ps3 in AUS is $999 and the ps3 in US is $599. So i would of paid around 721 AUD if i bought an import from the US.

A blu-ray player cost about 700 bucks minimal, the PS3 can store movies, music, get online (yea pretty stupid with out a keyboard or mouse, plus if you already own a computer it's useless), download trailers, HD compatible blah blah
AG you gave me an awesome idea, a coffee maker that you can plug into your PS3 using a USB port. I'm being serious about this, anyone want to help make one? It would be meant to be ironic (correct word?) or just a gimmick to make fun of how Sony and Microsoft market their products as all powerful, but the damn thing can't make coffee??? Ha!
I'm doing it alone most likely.
