Who here has a PS3? If you do, how do the PSone and PS2 games run on it?
Also, you guys know anything about the new 80 GB PS3 not being able to play old games due to a lack of the Emotion Engine?
Any PS3 owners in the house?

Yes. All current US model PS3's have the emotion engine chip built in. Which does help in emulation. However the just release 80GB model doesnt. Which really isnt anything to be worried about. PS3's for PAL countries did not have the EE Chip built in. I own the 60GB PAL model and there isn't that much of a difference in the games. There are alot of XBOX fanboys on the internet that would tell you otherwise. But in each update (which are constantly being released) more and more games get added to the compatibility list. This is the site you go to, to check compatibility for the PS3 models without the emotion engine chip. faq.eu.playstation.com/bc/Im assuming its these will be the same thing with the US version without the EE chip (80GB). From my experience on that website its not as bad as they make it out to be. For example it says MGS3 SUB plays with noticeable issues. However it doesn't at all.

OK, so can you confirm then that a PS3 without EE will play MGS1 (PSone), MGS2 and MGS3 (PS2) without ANY problems?

I havnt played MGS1 on my PS3. But MY MGS2 SUB and MGS3 SUB. Work fine.
However my MGS2 SUB froze once.
And notice how there are multiple versions of the same game. It also depends on the Product Code. Its usually on the spine of a PS2 game case. It looks like this SLES-##### or SLUS-##### depending on region.
Keep in mind that my games are the PAL editions. Your going to have to find a US website which shows you what games are compatible.
