We finally have a statement by Kojima that confirms the making of a Metal Gear movie. "I have received many offers to adapt Metal Gear Solid. It has taken a long time, but we have finally settled on an arrangement. False facts aside, a movie project is underway. I have finalized a Class-A contract with a party in Hollywood."This party is Sony Picture Entertainment. The risky part about this is that a Metal Gear movie will either be really good or really bad... not much option in between. I hope they get it right though.... Might be the first movie that I would go to for the premier!
Looks like I'll need another section on the site.... LOL
In all seriousness though, this will defenetly complete the Metal Gear evolution. MSX2, PS, PS2, PS3... Metal Gear was constantly becoming more and more real. What better way to finalize things than to actually make it REAL.

*sigh* A fan's worst fear, a good series turn to trash by less than 2 hours of some actor trying to be Snake.
Seriously, I've yet to see a good game to movie adaption, and I doubt MGS will be that movie. Thing about these types of movies, they give you an entirely different experience that the games do, and its usually not a good experience.
Then the non-MGS fans, and the movie critics will be judging the WHOLE MGS series based on that movie. And if its a badly made movie, the MGS name will be tainted forever. Thats what happened with Silent Hill. Good series, the [first] games were awesome horror games, but they made a half-assed horror movie and everyone looks at SH as if it were a bad series.
I sure wish Hideo would've thought twice before making a move like this. I will so not be looking forward to this.

All good points, but you should try to hope for the best.
No Kojima and a Portable Metal Gear game seemed like a horrible idea. Hell, it didn't work at first either. Then they took it seriously and even though MPO was not directed by Kojima and was on a handheld system it was a marvel of title!
Same can happen here. Movies based on video games don't work out, I know. What if Metal Gear is the first to do so?

If the movie was 3D animated we could actually have snake and david hayter's voice. Rather than some random actor trying to be snake.

Yeah, I've seen that one... LOL
With Kojima involved I think we can count on "slightly" better...

Who was going to play Solid Snake though? I remember Christian Bale being thrown around as the lead actor for the role. And I think that it can be done because Batman Begins was a pretty good revival for an old character, ofcourse with good special effects it should be nice.
