Well, E3 has officially started. Today was MS's conference so let's start with that.
In a nutshell, if on Thursday Sony doesnt show anything as good MS's conference, Im selling my PS3. I bought it for the exclusives (MGS4, DMC4, RE5, FFXIII). But now, only MGS4 is a PS3 exclusive and one single game isnt enough for me to keep a machine. 360 is looking very, VERY solid right now and for the future. Microsoft is finally expanding to the casual gamers, doing what Nintendo has been doing, by releasing more family games. Making the 360 experience more friendly, while keeping the hardcore gamers entertained with awesome games.
And some third party games that are multiplatform are giving 360 more stuff. Example, both Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero 4, both important titles, are getting exclusive stuff for the 360.
But the biggest surprise of course was at the very end of the conference, when Square surprised every single gamer by showing a brand new trailer of Final Fantasy XIII for the 360. That's right, one of Sony's BIGGEST exclusives has jumped ship. Whats stopping FFversusXIII from doing the same? Nothing really, so I wouldnt be surprised of that game is announced for the 360 later in the future as well. I think that's when every Sony fanboy committed suicide. Can you imagine what this will do to the sales in Japan? Sony's in a bad place now. Everywhere I go I hear people saying, "I bought PS3 just for FFXIII". A lot are feeling betrayed by Sony who couldnt keep such a title an exclusive. Sony fans are lucky that Hideo is a big Sony fan himself, if not we would've seen MGS4 for 360 on this conference as well. I feel bad for Sony now.
Microsoft has settled down and seen that they can win the hardcore gamers, and now, like I said, are extending to the more casual gamers and if Sony and Nintendo (Nintendo's always been for the casual gamer though) dont do anything, Microsoft will indeed dominate the industry.
Cant wait for Nintendo's and Sony's confereneces!! ;D ;D
edit: wow ROFL I am getting a 404 on gamespot and kotaku, while othe sites such as IGN take 5 Minutes to load.
I doubt anything else on E3 will surpass the ffxiii shocker. >< this is an E3 to remember. let's see if nintendo or sony can top that. lol

Hehehe... I want to say I didn't saw that one coming, but that would be a lie. Being saying this had f...ckING BIG odds of happening, and look at that, it did.
In any case, Nintendo HAS played its cards right so far, Microsoft IS playing its cards right so far. Sony? Doesn't take a genius to see that most of it (NOT ALL) depends on this E3 performance. But in all due honesty? The basic rule of gaming has just showed its ugly face once again:
No good exclusives = bad sales.
Simple.

I love all 3 of my PlayStations, no dout it about it. However, my preference of those systems relies heavily on Metal Gear. The MGS series is primarily a PlayStation series. So, my loyalties go with that.
Can Sony comeback from this... who knows? The lost FF but got BioShock... that's something. Who knows... I find myself less and less intrigued by the gaming world. Take the new FF trailer... crap. I'm sorry, but it is. That game has been in development for how long, and that's all we get? "oooh... a f...cking cutscene!" So freaking what? FF cutscenes have looked good since 1997! The brief glimse of gameplay did not impress me one bit.
I don't understand that logic, you're a Metal Gear fan! If you can have a single system on which you can play MG1, MG2, MGS, MGS2, MGS3, and MGS4... that's not worth it to you? Granted, I use my original PlayStation and PlayStation 2 for the older games, but who knows, they may not last forever.
If you are really impressed by the 360 exclusives, get the system. Have both of them. What's wrong with that? It's really not that unreasonable, especially when you already own the more expensive one of the two. And if it's not a matter of the 360 exclusives, then what's the problem? All the games you have there will apprear on the PS3 as well.
Dude, honestly... MGS4 is worth a PS3, even if you just settle for a 40 GB. It's worth it. The game has a tremendous replay value! I believe that I've played the game just about every day since June 12th! I've only had that much attraction to ONE game, and that was MGS1. So... even if you don't like the future of the PS3, it's still worth having a unifying system for all your Metal Gear.

The brief glimse of gameplay did not impress me one bit. You obviously dont know Square at all. Theyre pricks. They either show nothing, or show a second of gameplay from their stellar games. Just because they showed off a second or two of gameplay only, doesnt mean the game is bad or uninteresting. And like you said, the gaming world doesnt intrigue you anymore, so its understandable that you werent impressed by that trailer. But take a fan... no, let me give you a better example. Let's say that was MGS4 trailer. You wouldve been impressed and/or excited even if they showed .01 of a second of gameplay, no? Same thing with fans of the series. That trailer looked great in my eyes, the eyes of someone who's been a fan of the series for a looooong time. Ive been a fan of FF longer than any other gaming series. I do have my PS2, and if I ever want to go back to MGS1-MGS3, Ill just use that. But I dont see myself going back to play them often. I havent picked any of them for over a year. I cant afford to buy a new system now. Thats why if I sell my PS3, Ill have the money to buy a 360. 360 games appeal to me more than PS3 games. The exclusives (i wanted) for PS3 appealed to me more though, thats why I got it in the first place. But they've all jumped ship. I really dont see a reason why I should own a console where I will only be playing games that are on a console where I can play more attractive games as well. Like I said, I dont pick up MGS anymore. I play MGS4, because, well its the only PS3 game I have at the moment thats worth replaying. But thats it. With the gaming world evolving and as Im seeing all these cool games, MGS is now a part of my past, not present nor future. If I want to play MGS years for now for the nostalgia and whatnot, most likely the PS3 will drop in price to a point I can afford to own both consoles. But right now, I can only afford one. That 360 is calling out my name.

Not really. The only two trailers I actually liked were the TGS 2005 and the last one that showed REX vs RAY. They were the only ones that had me hyped for the game.
In regards to FF13, the issue with not showing the gameplay is vital. What did we see in that trailer? "oooh, cutscenes will have nice CGI". BFD! Same really goes for MGS4 cutscens. This isn't the 90's, graphics aren't the selling poing any longer. Not because they don't matter but because they are a prerequisit. Another words, you damn well better make it look nice.
My biggest problem with FF has been that the cutscenes always look great and the gameplay always LOOKS like sh*t by comparison. That's why I'm not impressed with what I see of FF13. Show me what you accomplished in the environments I will interact, not just what I'll watch. What makes MGS4 great is that the cutscens are amazing but the gameplay is even more detailed and interesting.
I disliked greatly that MGS4 trailers didn't show off the gameplay. That was the reason I had fairly little hype going into the game. But it is because of the gameplay quality that I've played the game just about every day since its release.

This isn't the 90's, graphics aren't the selling poing any longer. Not because they don't matter but because they are a prerequisit. Another words, you damn well better make it look nice. Uh, no. If you looked closely, you'd see that the cutscenes wont be CGI anymore. They'll be in-game graphics, because Square's white engine allows for graphics to look CGI, but are actually rendered in real-time. It's the first time they're doing this in a FF game. That's why they're showing cutscenes, to show what they have accomplished even though they're not CGI like past titles. Wow, well I just lost all respect for you right there. Calling something that looks like sh*t just because you're not a fan is just... And what looks sh*t about it? If it's graphics, they looks exactly as the rest of the trailer. Like I said, the whole game is being rendered in real time. All graphics look the same, cutscene and gameplay. If it's the gameplay itself, it's an RPG. ALL RPG's are like that, so why all the hate towards FF? You fight bad guys, you stay in one spot, choose your command, attack, get attacked, healed. Same formula. If you dont like that, fine, but calling it sh*t is just blind hatred. That's not what FF is about. FF is and always be focused in the fighting aspect. You'll spend hours after hours fighting people, to level up, get items, buy weapons, etc. There's no environment interactive like say MGS2, because it's a not a series that focuses on that. But just because it doesnt focus on that, that makes it a bad game? And you're clearly not a FF fan. FFXII had one of the most detailed environments I've yet seen in the series. Just because you cant shoot a window doesnt mean something isnt detailed.

if ur selling your ps3 to get a 360 cuz of ff13 then ur dumb lol. wait it out a lil. ff13 isnt coming here for a long time. versus is not yet confirmed for 360. even then u dont think some things will be compressed or even cut out? multiple disc is no problem but square made the decision to go multiplatform like last thursday. i think versus will be ported if the 360 version of ff13 does well. hard to tell but it might mean versus will come to ps3 first you seem like a dedicated fan
as far as graphix go (lawl) ff13's cutscenes are still supererior over gameplay. take a look at hires screenshots of cutscenes and gameplay. the cutscenes have epic graphic. gameplay... looks good but not as good lol. the main characters hair looks like its raidens lol but in the cutscenes it looks real. i do agree though, ag, this is an rpg not a shootan gaem, not a sneakan gaem. ff gaems have looked good even in gameplay starting w/ teh ps2. also, graphix are totally a seeling point where hav u been? also all teh ff fans want to know moar about the story so they get what they want. im sure some shootan fan said all the mgs4 trailers were sh**y cuz mgs4 is a movie to them
still this is microsoft's biggest news besudes a dashboard with fake miis and xmb. lol. wii's coolest title is by sega and nobody will hear about it its black and white and has tons of violence, and sony keeps on delaying their gaems. i dont hink ill be gaming in a year or two.

First of all, speak English. You know, that language that's the most globally known. If you have problem typing in English, I can direct you to some sites that can help. Im not getting a 360 JUST for FFXIII. Im getting 360 cause I like it more. I had gotten PS3 for the exclusives, but now those are gone to the 360, PS3 has no games that interest me. While 360 has a whole library that I wanna get into. Not to mention the LIVE experience is just awesome. Pfft, I could care less about Versus. The mere fact that Nomura is working on it repulses me. Nope, Square has confirmed both versions will be exactly the same. No compressed anything, and nothing will but cut out. And like you said, disc changing is no problem. Hell, I would LOVE it if MGS4 had multiple discs. Having to wait to install each ACT? Id rather take 1 minute to change a disc. Are you retarded? Raidn'e hair? Not as good? CUTSCENE: IN-GAME Where's the difference? If there's any, it's not a mind boggling difference. Like I said, the cutscences are not being rendered in CG, but in the Crystal Tools. Do some research next time before spouting off nonsense.

lol. spanish is moar widely spoken than english. let us assume that i did not speak english natively. lol, your post would have been the most ignorant thing evar. basically ur saying speek english or gtfo. this isnt a country its a message board for a fansite. also i already sed why my typing is bad. the point of a language is 2 communicate. for teh most part you can understand wut im saying. so move on. what gaems are you talkin about? it sounds like ff13 is whats pushing ur decision. as far was wut square says cmon man. theyve been saying ff13 is ps3 only. the fact is they made the decision a week ago. they hav no idea what the end product is. valve/ea also claimed the orange box would be identical on ps3/360. this is false; ps3 version suffers some bugs. heres some copypasta from a 1up interview: "People may be under the impression that it's a total package that only needs to be tweaked a little bit in order to port the game to 360, but that's not the case -- we still have to fix it to make it more platform-specific" ign "There also are no plans to have the games be different on Xbox 360 and PS3. Nothing has been decided for sure yet, but the team is looking at ways to compress the audio and pre-rendered cutscenes that take up a lot of data without affecting the quality when bringing the game from a blu-ray format to the DVDs that Xbox 360 reads." lol @ spouting nonsense. crystal tools is another gimmicy name for a game engine. all it means is that theyre using teh same engine to make the gameplay and to make the cutscenes. much liek resident evil 4 on ps2 and teh volta scene in mgs4 except itll look better in ff13 becuz, well, ff games always have good cutscenes. good use of screenshot. blurry with some lightening going on. try this for size looks good but clearly not as good as prerendered cutscenes. look at teh hair. look at the skin texture. ull probably disagree somehow because of CRYSTAL TOOLS. enjoy ur hype.

Thanks god I knew better to stay away from all this fuss.
My 2 cents though?
Even if you're a Metal Gear fan AND you already own a PS1 and PS2, sorry, but its just whimsically retarded to own a 399-599 console for ONE FRIGGIN' game. Even the MSX has MG1, MG2, and Snatcher.
The moment fanaticism brakes the laws of common sense, it's no longer fanaticism, that's just being silly.
It's as simple as that.

Yes, but how long will the PS1/2 will continue to function? I mean, I take care of my systems and they work fine, but there is not guarantee. I like the notion of a system that can play 3 generations of games.

I like the notion of a system that can play 3 generations of games. When there are plenty of NES and SNES (And genesis) floating around functioning perfectly, it's kind of silly you're worrying about consoles that aren't even that old. Because, unless I missing something, "Sony products are top quality", right? So why worry about something the competition did so good YEARS ago. Moot point. Either you worry too much, or you're still just being silly.

I'm not advertising the need for the PS3 to ONLY play MGS4. Now, I'm fan enough to do that, but that's just me. However, in my personal experience I don't see the issue with owning that system. MGS4, backup system for my older games, Blu-ray (which lately I've been using a lot).... not to mention a few other games coming down the line that I'm curious about. That's what I'm saying.
